Do people ride splash mountain in Jan. We leave next Wed. and really love this ride, not for the splash part, just the music and animation. Does anyone know it they turn down the splash when it's cold?

Not sure if they turn down the splash, but people do ride it and do get wet. We'll also be there next Wed. 6 days and counting. Packing this weekend.:hyper:

I was just in DW and rode Splash Mountain Jan 9th. It seems that they do turn down the splash in colder temps. The colder it is, the less of a wait there is for the ride. One day there was a 0 wait, and the day I went on it was 5 mintues! Happy riding!

I will be there in 9 days/ I will be riding this, and if it gets too cold we will just put on ponchos so that we don't get too wet.

I've ridden on cold days in December and never got really wet. Just a small splash or two, but nothing major. Nothing that made me feel cold. After the first ride you know where to expect it too, so you can duck!

Hi yooperfan,

My DD5 and I rode Splash twice last week as soon as the park opened. The temperature was in the mid 40's, I believe. As the dad, I protected her from the water cannon spray as best I could. She didn't get very wet, and didn't seem to mind the little bit she did. It didn't make that big a difference to me, either.

Big Thunder, being an outdoor roller coaster, was significantly colder than I initially thought. But being on the ride is like adding a 20 mph wind chill to whatever the temperature is, so that's understandable in retrospect. That didn't stop my DD5 from riding eight times, though. It's her new favorite.

Thanks everyone, you all picked up my spirits, there's nothing like a fellow disniholic to make your day.

We rode it last week too. We didn't get wet but the family in the front seat did. So try to sit in the back two seats. My daughters made me go on and everytime we hit a splash they would say "Did you get wet Mom" They were so worried I was going to get wet I don't think they found their Happy place. Gina

if I remember correctly, during our Keys to the Kingdom tour DH and I took back in September, the guide said that they did turn the 'splash' off when the temperature dipped.

I believe he was referring to the 'splash' that gets the onlookers on the bridge wet though...you'll still get a bit wet as it is a flume ride.

enjoy! i'll be there in one week too!
