Splash Mountain in December/January?

I just booked my FP+! Everything worked out almost perfectly! For MK, we have 7DMT, Jungle Cruise, and BTMR. We're a party of 4, but my parents will not be going on BTMR, so I can book another attraction for them.

I have Splash Mtn at 4, but I'm debating whether to change it to something else? I faintly remember last time we went in Christmas (like 8 years ago) it was pretty chilly throughout. If it's gonna be cold I'd rather not FP Splash Mountain and rather get something else...

From experience, how was the weather in during Christmastime?

i went late december 2008/early january 2009.

the weather was beautiful that year with sunny skies and temps in the low 80's.

i've done splash mountain even when it was chilly in november.

if it were me i'd keep the FP+ and if its chilly then have your parents wear ponchos so they don't get wet/cold.

personally i like not getting wet on splash mountain any time of year.
many people would say "thats the point of the ride" but to me the point of the ride is the theme, the songs, and the drops not getting wet.

I don't really like getting wet all that much but I really just can't deal with being wet and cold. We rode Splash in Dec 2014. It was low 60's the day we rode, and was the only "warm" day of our entire trip. Any chillier and I probably would not have ridden it.

It seems like Dec varies a lot there so I doubt you will know the weather until you are there. We did keep Splash as a FP knowing we may need to change it if too cool.

We always make Splash Mountain our last ride of our day in MK. That way if we are wet we are headed back to our resort anyways. We travel mostly in November and December and it can be chilly and walking around wet is not fun. I'd keep it for now and chances are if it looks too cold you will be able to switch it to a different fastpass the day of or the day before.

We're taking what my husband calls "cheater bags" and what the rest of us call "ponchos." It's January. Even in Florida there's a strong chance we won't want to be soaking wet.

The whole point of a 10 plus minute ride is definitely not just to get wet. The drop into the brier patch is a part of the story. I personally have never gotten wet enough to make me regret riding, even when it's cold enough for me to be in a sweat shirt and toboggan. Just make sure you're not in the front and try to sit on the left side of the boat to avoid the potential splatter waiting to go into the final scene.

A toboggan? I'm only familiar with this word meaning a sled. What is your definition here? (Because I love language. Not being mean, just fascinated.)

generally i don't get too wet but there have been a couple instances where the timing was off and we got soaked and i mean soaked. i left a butt mark everywhere i sat for hours.

i think i just have bad luck though lol because not once but twice i got completely soaked on maelstrom.
both times was when the boat was loaded full and i was in the front with 2 other people and the right side was heavier.
one CM thought i fell in when i got off the ride.

Not the original poster, but where I live, it's the name for a winter hat as well as the sled.

So, its another name for a toque?

I agree with the suggestion to wear ponchos just in case. We rode Splash on our last trip, when it was cold enough that we were wearing our winter jackets and gloves. Didn't get wet but we were in the last seat. We've noticed that they turn off the water cannons when its cold, reducing the chance of getting soaked.

Will be ther in JAN as well, picking fast passes in about 5 days I believe. Anyone know if it's worth it to FP Splash, will most people be staying away due to cold and we can get away with riding without a wait? It's my favorite ride so we will definitely be riding. We usually make it a FP but maybe we can use that FP on something else.

The splash zone is diminished over the winter and I rarely get wet in December. Be aware that Splash goes down for rehab in early January, so don't put it off too long into the new year. We did that once and missed out on riding it one trip.

I live in the south. I'm not sure what other people call them but it's just a warm skull cap that covers your ears and conforms to the shape of your head.

Had to look up toque, lol, but yes it is. I have to remind myself that not everyone I know uses toboggan when talking about winter hats, so I don't confuse others.

As for Splash, I've ridden it in December and January and the lines were always minimal.
