Is Splash Mountain an okay ride for my daughter right after she turns 6? She'll be 44 and a half inches tall. I don't think she's ready for the other big rides like space mountain etc, but she really wants to go on splash mountain. I know there is the one steep hill...at what age do your kids ride? :confused3

We too our oldest on it when he was 3 and he LOVED it. Our youngest now will turn 5 right after our trip and though he's tall enough, I really don't think he's remotely ready for it. All depends on the child. My youngest is autistic though and we can't really explain the ride to him in a way he'll understand, do he won't be able to make up his mind about it. If your child wants to go, let her try it. :thumbsup2 It's a pretty good "beginner to thrill rides" attraction. One thing I learned on Dinosaur is just because they're tall enough does not mean they are ready. Yikes. That was is rough at twice the age. SM though is tame w/ the exception of the drop, and that's fast and smooth.

My daughter did Splash, BTMR, and ToT when she was just shy of 4 years old and loved it!! Like the PP, Dinosaur was a different story. She came out of that one crying. Even now , two years later, she refuses to try it again!

The height requirement for Splash is 40" so your daughter is well over the minimum. My DD rode it when she was 6 and loved it. Loved it so much that we must have ridden it a half dozen times that trip.

Last year our 6 y/o grandson rode Splash. He was sitting next to his dad who got soaked. As we made the turn out after the flume he turned and looked back at me with a look of pure joy on his face. I can still see it.

Awesome...she'll be so happy! She doesn't know that we are going in September, but she talks non-stop about Disney. She desperately wants to go on it, so it will be so exciting for her!

That is precious! He was so proud he did it! :goodvibes

My youngest son has autism too. I know he would love rides so much but he is afraid to try them even at Chuck E. Cheese he is terrified of them. So, I won't push him to go on anything, but boy I wish he would! He loves all types of swinging around and movement. He'd love it. He's just 4 so maybe someday he'll work up the nerve to try them.

Gosh, I hear ya! :grouphug: I KNOW they'd love them but change is SO tricky for many of them. It took us until he was in pre-school at 3-1/2 to wear SHOES! It's hard for us and our little guys because they don't understand what we are trying to tell them. I don't want to force him on things for him to freak out and not only make him hysterical, but ruin things for others. So far, he's been OK w/ the Haunted Mansion, but images being "scary" hasn't clicked w/ him yet. At one point, it might get too to be much.
Good luck to you!!!!

My son was 3 last summer and he loved it. He had a blast on Big Thunder Railroad as well. Test Track and Soarin were the ones he talked about more than any on the trip home. He did Soarin 4 times and wanted to stay on it. He was the Rebel Spy once on Star Tours, but after the third time, he didn't want to ride it anymore. Both Buzz and TSM were big hits with him.. Ones he refused were SM, RRC, ToT, and EE. He rode everything else.

My DD6 isn't one for thrill rides, but she LOVED Splash.

Don't worry. You'll see kids as young as 2 in the queue who also love it, which should put your mind at rest. 44" is actually quite tall compared to 40" :)

Absolutely! Ill be taking my 4 year old on it next week. My now 6 year old loves it, as well as tower of terror, BTMRR and any other thrill ride he can get on.

my DD was 6 in February when she rode it with her cousin who was 7. I was in the seat behind them but they were fine.

My daughter turned six last week when we were there and Splash Mountain was herfavorite ride of all. She liked getting "faked out" by the smaller hills.

if she wants to go on it after seeing the drop from the outside of the ride, i am sure she will be fine. my 6 year old was terrified after seeing it but said she wanted to try. i'll let this picture of her tell the story of what she thought about the drop (she is the one in the front).

I think that she should be fine I first rode it when I was seven but its only a years be difference
