Splash Mountain Drop...Is it me or ...

I must be in the minority; I don't find a single attraction in WDW I would call intense. This would include Splash Mountain, ToT, EE(backwards is cool though), RnRc(though close), space mountain, or TT. They are all fun, have some excitement to them, but none of them cause my heart to jump out of my chest riding them. But then again, I live just over an hour away from Cedar Point and that place has what I call "intense" rides that scare the bejeepers out of me ( I love it). I guess it's the roller coaster nut in me. :goodvibes

With that said, I love WDW and am not disappointed that it does not have what I would call intense thrill rides. There is no other place I'd rather spend a week than WDW, even if it lacks what I perceive to be intense rides.

I completely agree. :thumbsup2

And for those who are worried about your 4 year olds, my DD6 went on it just after she turned 3 and loved it. I know that my DD4 will love it when she's tall enough too. I question whether she will love Dinosaur or ToT as much as DD6 did, but I won't give a second thought to introducing her to Splash.

I agree, the stomach feeling is pretty bad during that last drop. But 3 seconds of pain is worth the rest of the ride!
Also is it just me, or does DL's drop seem more intense than WDW's?

Oh, I agree! WDW's Splash's drop doesn't really bother me much, but DL's one makes me cringe each time, LOL!

For the person with back problems, I have a terrible back, and this ride doesn't bother me because the drop is "cushioned" at the end by dropping into the water. I always feel like it's like landing on a waterbed;).

Terri

Thank you for that!

I agree w/ the person who said it looked worse than it felt on the ride. To me it looks steep but going down is not scary, it is only the anticipation.

My squeamish just turned 8 yr old rode it and loved it, I saw many much younger kids (around 4) ride it w/ no probs and no one seemed at all traumatized, but a few (including us) were often wet.

The only rides I think could be really scary for a small child are Tower of Terror (but it gets less scary after you ride it once and find out what it is about) and RocknRoller coaster, and maybe Space Mnt, but all the kids I saw on that were fine too.

I didn't let my 8 yr old ride RnR coaster (was actually going to let him, but he backed out and I was glad he did after I rode it, and told him not to b/c I thought it was too intense for him), but my 10 yr old rode it 3 times and loved it. That take off is a big rush and is so fast I can't breathe for a minute, but it is so fun.

Splash Mnt. was a breeze, similar to the Bamboo Shoot I rode as a child at Astro World (Six Flags park now closed, rest in peace :) ). Loved it!
