Splash Mountain DL vs. MK

What about the rest over there is it even worth checking into epcot and what else is there ?

I concur with PP about WDW. It is definitely worth checking out. Yes, they offer many similar rides to Disneyland, but they also offer rides that aren't at DL. Personally, I prefer DL to Magic Kingdom, but as a whole, the WDW resort is really different.

For one, I enjoy that its not surrounded by motels, and if you stay onsite, the magic is with you 24/7.

ToT blows DCA's version out of the water. Animal Kingdom is a beautiful park, with ride experiences unique to WDW. Epcot is amazing, with many rides that can't be found at DL. In addition, there are much better dining choices, more varied shopping choices, water parks and minigolf

I thought it didn't, which is why I thought Disneyland's tells the story better, but now I'm starting to wonder. I do like how WDW has the leaping water from the frogs that Disneyland doesn't have, although I've heard that's disastrous if you get stuck right there since you're constantly being pelted by water.

I always thought the WDW version had more of a storyline, while the DL version really didn't have much of a storyline, except for Brer Rabbit getting caught & then getting loose.

I like both versions - they are different, and I like that I am not going to see the exact same thing when I travel thousands of miles to the other park. :)

Splash Mountain is the only ride that I like better at MK. It's longer, brighter, and doesn't zoom through the show scenes at lightning speed like at DL.

The reason DL's drop feels more intense is all in the log design. The more open, single file seating of DL's logs allows you to feel the force of going downhill more than the cushy, semi-enclosed side by side seating at MK. But for me, the better show elements of the MK's version trumps the slightly more fun drop of DL's version.

Thanks. Does WDW actually have the scene where everybody is gloomy and singing "poor Brer Rabbit" and I just forgot that they did?

WDW does not have that scene.

Spoilers!!!!!Spoilers!!!!!Spoilers!!!!!Spoilers!!!!!Spoilers!!!!!

At WDW you do an inside drop and see Brer Bear getting stung by bees and Brer Rabbit laughing at him while Brer Fox is sneaking up behind Rabbit with a beehive. Then you go down a small drop into the area with the leaping water and frogs. Then just before you go up the last hill you see Brer Fox holding Brer Rabbit by the ears with the beehive around him. I know they used the AA characters from America Sings for the attraction. I think they fit more in at DL then did not use as many of the copies at WDW.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for reminding me that I haven't lost my mind(completely at any rate). :upsidedow

okay. now someone has to tell me the storyline.

Cuz I don't remember it. And it's possible I never 'got' it. I get distracted by shiny objects.

In a nutshell, Brer Rabbit is happy go lucky and frequently ticks off Brer Fox and Brer Bear. They devise the tar baby to capture him, and their plan is to roast him alive for dinner. Brer Rabbit convinces them that the worst thing they could possibly do to him is to send him to the briar patch, of which he claims to be deathly afraid of.

So, Brer Fox and Brer Bear change their minds and send Brer Rabbit to the briar patch, which is actually where he was born. So Brer Rabbit ends up with the last laugh.

The "doom and gloom" scene missing from MK's Splash Mountain is why I think Disneyland's tells the story a bit better, but as many have said, both versions are great.
