Splash Mountain Closed?

We were there on New Years Day at the MK and Splash Mountain was closed in the morning but they were giving out fastpasses for after 1pm. We came back at 3pm and were then told it was goign to be closed for the rest of the day. It isnt supposed to officially close until jan 4th but apparently when it does close officially, its gonna need some cleaning up!

Also, is it official that SM closed early for operational updates?

I hope it opens a day or two early!

Splash Mountain may have been closed a few days ago for an issue not related to its scheduled down time because my family is there now and rode it twice last night (Jan. 2) and just got fast passes to ride it today as well. I think it's supposed to be closed tomorrow. Figures, the day I get there :-(
