I saw that Splash Mountain is closed when we'll be there in January ... does anyone know why??

It always closes for a refurb around this time of year. Too bad you will miss it, its a favorite of mine for sure!! Luckily it is scheduled to reopen just before we arrive.

Usually for refurb. We've been two times in January and it was closed both times. We're looking forward to riding this year in June.
Have a good time :goodvibes

Thanks guys! I'm bummed, but DS is bummed the most ... I supposed we'll still be forced to enjoy ourselves LOL!

If you find it to be just too much to go without Splash Mountain....I will be the really nice Diser that I am and will go in your place. :rotfl2:

I feel for you..That is my DS's fave ride. We ride at least four times a trip. Have a great time!

You're so extremely thoughtful! That would be very nice of you! LOL! I'm not complaining at all ... we're just so very excited! I'm glad we found out before we went so my son wouldn't be too sad ... we could do damage control previous to showing up the the happiest place on earth (minus Splash Mountain).

SM is one of my favorite rides! We are going to the wonderful World of Disney in 5 days (!!!), and this is dh first time at the World!

I am heart broken, devastated, distraught...So, dh and I will have to come back sometime soon so we can go see it .... :cool1: :lmao:

Grrr, I'm planning on a Jan. trip and SM is closed then.... its one of my favorites. Now I shall go pout all day.

It was closed during our February trip last year, apparently they do the refurb around the same time every year. Fortunately we went again in June and rode a couple of times. It is our favorite MK attraction. I think it is a price you pay going in the off season. They are always trade-offs. Smaller crowds are wonderful, but you will have shorter park hours, fewer parades and more refurbs. Busier times are more crowded, but you have longer park hours, more frequent parade and fireworks and usually less refurbs unless they are major ones.

Splash Mountain traditionally closes every January for refurbishment -- AFAIK, it's just about the only attraction at the MK to have such a frequent and consistent refurbishment schedule.

We were there on New Years Day at the MK and Splash Mountain was closed in the morning but they were giving out fastpasses for after 1pm. We came back at 3pm and were then told it was goign to be closed for the rest of the day. It isnt supposed to officially close until jan 4th but apparently when it does close officially, its gonna need some cleaning up!

It was closed for us last year, but we are not going until Jan 27th this year so it will be OPEN!

And...on top of that: Philharmagic was initially noted to be closed from January until February 9. It is now showing open in FEBRUARY, so looks like that will be OPEN also!!! :cool1:

Splash Mountain seems to close every year in just after the new year for a couple weeks...

I'm assuming these dates are fairly accurate and that these rides don't generally open earlier than planned?

not to get too wet. Going in Jan/Feb it won't be hot enough for me to want to walk around wet.

So are we saying it's closed already?

The Operational Update page shows it is slated to re-open January 17th.....any chance it will open a day early :wishgoal
