Splash Mountain chicken exit?

I used to do SM with my Mom but now that's she gone I don't ride it anymore. Mainly because I'm not doing it with her and partly because I've become more of a chicken since I've gotten older. My husband refuses to go on so I have no one to motivate me to ride it. I wonder while we go through the line if I could convince him before peeling off into chicken exit?

I hate the drop on Splash but will still ride it because I like the rest of the ride. I end up making the most ridiculous faces for the pictures out of fear! Can I just say how happy I am that I wasn't on the ride with the woman in the picture above? That picture went crazy viral and I would have died if my "horror face" was all over the internet!

But to the OP, I don't blame you for wanting to walk through the line with your hubby, it's a fun queue and you can just jump out and wait for him to ride. Have a fun trip!!

I think I heard the woman in the photo got her husband to go on it with her later, and took another picture?

The story I found said that they went back to WDW (I believe courtesy of VisitOrlando.com, but I could be wrong about that) and she'd convinced her husband to ride that time.

Do a web search for "Angry Splash Mountain Lady". She became an internet celebrity, and when she came back again WDW actually hosted her explicitly.

I don't agree with this. Having the alternative exits at all attractions means that the entire family can be together and only have to be apart for the length of the one rider's time in the vehicle. So, in this case, the couple would need to be apart for longer than the actual ride portion of the attraction. Plus, the non rider will be taken to the point where she can easily meet her husband at the end instead of having to set something up for X amount of time after he boards. I couldn't ride thrill attractions for five years and taking those exits were so nice because my husband and I could spend time together all through the queue and then he'd ride and I'd be able to see everything except the actual ride part.

I'm surprised this thread is so long. While there is nothing inherently wrong with exiting a ride, the only I time did it with a FP was under the old FP system on a slow day. I was able to get another one five minutes later. Under the NEW system, giving up a FP in MK is a much bigger loss. MK has many fine FP options, and guests are now so very limited in the number they can obtain.

It isn't for me to tell the OP what to do, but in answering her question, it bears mentioning that she's making a big sacrifice for a small return. The queue of Splash isn't one of the exciting ones, and no matter what- Splash is a relatively long ride. My old guide says 12 minutes.

If I was in her shoes, I too would prefer to use my FP elsewhere.

I find it odd equate her choice with morality. I can easily bear to be apart from my spouse for half an hour. Further, even if she doesn't use her FP, she can still meet him at gift shop at the end of the ride.

By all means though, she is free to do it.

I appreciate everyone who has answered my question (a fairly simple one, I thought, lol). I think some might be overthinking it a little. I know a lot of folks enjoy Splash Mountain but I don't want to risk my too jumpy stomach. I don't mind waiting in line with my husband, not because I can't bear to be without him (though we have fun together so I do enjoy his company!) but because I am interested in seeing the ride up close, even if it's not one of the more interesting queues. We run out of things to use FPs on in MK, to be honest, so it's not a waste for me. And while I didn't respond to it before, I do have every right to sign up for a FP to do that if I choose.

Excellent. Thanks OP for coming back to this thread.

All of us make choices at WDW, and the beauty of WDW is that it offers a great many choices. I'm sure we (all) make choices that others would not. In short, there's no WRONG way to spend your time.

Just as there are thousands of hotels rooms on property, plus thousands more just OFF WDW property, and options of every stripe: from high end luxury to low cost motels, even campgrounds, condos, and rental houses.

There's no one size fits all option in places to stay, and there's no one size fits all option in how to spend your vacation time.

Exiting a ride is easy, and you should absolutely make the choice that best suites your needs.
