After hearing about the horrific waterslide accident, I was wondering about my just turned 4 year old granddaughter and going on this ride. She loves 7DMT, but shes a tall skinny lil thing and I am suddenly concerned about her and that little lapbar. I know I'm being silly, but still wondering about other people's experiences when riding with little ones.

Are you talking about the accident at a non Disney park or something else? Height restrictions are based on safety. If she meets those, she should be safe.

My 5 year old is going to be tall enough this year. I'm more worried about the drop scaring her a lot. She'll either love it or not want to go on any other "big girl" ride the rest of the trip.

That waterslide was something like 17 stories tall. I don't think Splash even comes close. My husband has been taking our oldest daughter on Splash since she was four (she is also very skinny but met the height requirement) and this was always one of his biggest fears. He always put his arm around her on the drop and it was fine.

If she's tall enough, she'll be safe. Like PP said, the ride can't even be compared. And riders on that ride where the recent accident occurred were meant to be at least 14 years old and have a certain weight requirement.

I took my three year old on it in April for the first time and felt very safe. It was her favorite ride. We must have ridden it at least six times in April and July and she loved it every time. You sit right next to them and can hold on to them. It's a great ride for a four year old.

Yes, it is a bit silly to worry about a child riding Splash because a tragedy happened at another water park on a ride that's nothing remotely close to it. It's almost like asking if ToT is safe to ride after someone dies in a skydiving accident. We brought our kids on Splash as soon as they were tall enough, it's as safe as they come.

If it eases your mind, just wrap your arms around her, but its nothing major. When I was a teenager my family and another family visited SeaWorld. No one in my family except for me was willing to go on Journey to Atlantis, but the kids in the other family wanted to ride. Their kids were as short and skinny as they come. The little boy (who was about 5 or 6 at the time) was barely tall enough to ride, so he rode with his dad. The sister was my sister's age (about 11 or 12), but she was like half the size of my sister and she rode with me. I was like 15 at the time and even though we had the lap bar, she was SO skinny and SO short that I thought for sure she was going to fly off the boat on the first drop. I remember putting my arms around her just to try and further anchor her into the boat lol. But needless to say it was fine, and neither her nor her brother flew out of the boat that day. The second drop scared the beejezuz out of me though lol. I wasn't expecting it at all lol.

We went to WDW in April. My 5 year old daughter BEGGED to try space mountain. She was (to the centimeter) 44 inches. I said no way, her dad said of course. She LOVED it! And is now a roller coaster junkie. During that trip she did space mountain about 8 times, TOT like 4 in a row and mt. everest until she puked. (literally) We go back in December and she is already harassing me about FP+'s.

That water slide has been open 2 years and is 17 stories tall. Splash Mountain has been open for 24 years and is 5 stories tall. This shouldn't even be on your radar for worrying.

Thank you so much for your snarky reply. What I was asking for was other riders experiences. I know we will enjoy the ride in January.
