Thanks for the update - I see they pushed the date back from June 1 to June 20. Last week at the airport they were still saying June 1 (we fly the 2nd). I hope they are not making a huge mistake by charging for what has always been seen as an "entitlement" for travelers - we fly Spirit several times a year and feel they should have just raised their rates $5 instead of alienating their customers- I truly doubt people will travel without a checked bag, if that is their goal - I know I never could!

When the annoucement first came out they also said they cannot guarantee to have room for more than 1 checked bag. Because of this we decieded to just use northwest. Actually they were cheaper than spirit for our flight.

It's the wave of the future. If they get away with it expect others to follow....

This kind of policy is standard in Europe. I think many airlines will follow. My husband never checks a bag. I expect we'll check a couple bags when the 5 of us travel in June, but not 5. But we stay in a DVC room so we can easily do laundry.

This is why I think the cruise lines will start doing away with formal nights. How can you pack formal outfits when airlines only allow 1 bag? And I always have to allow for an extra bag coming back for all the goodies I buy ;)

With this and their "new" pricing(that means alot higher than NWA:scared1: for any of the 3 trips I am watching for). Who in their right mind would fly Spirit unless you get one of their specials?

Like JennyPenny we're DVC members, so we'll pack lighter(need to get the 3rd wheelie carryon, give something for DS 10 to do) and do laundry(really no big deal IMHO, with a W/D in the room).
