Wow. I'm impressed! I just saw the trailer for Spirited Away at http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/spirited_away.html

The official site is up at http://www.spiritedaway.net (where, among other things, you'll find more versions of the trailer in case you prefer other players over Quicktime or you don't have a high bandwidth connection).

So, to keep this post on topic, the news is that Disney is releasing this Hayao Miyazaki movie in NY and LA on September 20. Does anyone have the news of when this movie will open in Chicago?

Wow, looks great & I'm sure we'll see it here in Dallas pretty soon.

BTW, who honestly prefers realplayer or wmp to quicktime?!

I prefer WMP to quicktime. Quicktime has a nasty habit of crashing while loading...
But we've had this discussion before, haven't we?
:)
RealPlayer sucks on any platform!

I thought that WMP's quality was not as good as QT (even on a PC), but I suppose each platform's native program works best.

No argument on realplayer though.

I saw "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi" just last week. It is simply wonderful!! When friends in Japan first started telling me about this movie last July, I really hoped Disney would handle the NA distribution. I am looking forward to seeing it again and eventually adding the DVD to my Miyazaki collection.

Hey Jeff,
Remember the discussion we had where I said that Mac users tend to attack anything Windows while Windows users don't really care what other folks use?

Mac rocks, Win sucks.

End of discussion

I rest my case...

I am using Windows right now, but I love Macs, but I'm not the pure blood Mac fan who won't use a life saving device becuase it uses a base of Windows.

Also, have you seen the new Gateway computer comercial with the iMac?

I rest MY case.

Apple's current MAC ads are rude and offensive, but beyond that, my big problem with Quicktime is that inorder to see the largest version of a Trailer, they require you to pay for Quicktime Pro. I'd much rather get the MPeg format.

I thought this thread was about "Spirited Away," not a religious debate about Windows vs. MacOS -- or Windows Media Player (WMP) vs. QuickTime. I use Windows 2000 on my laptop and MacOS X on my desktop. They're both fine operating systems (especially compared to earlier operating systems from both companies), though each does a few things better than the other.

The current Mac commercials are the "Switching to Mac: Real Stories" commercials ( http://www.apple.com/switch/stories/index2.html ). I guess I don't see what's "rude and offensive" about those ads.

I haven't run into a situation where to see the "largest version of a Trailer, they require you to pay for QuickTime Pro." However, I'm annoyed that QuickTime always tries to sell you an upgrade to QuickTime Pro whenever the free version launches. Despite that, I still like QuickTime.

Apple has done a much better job porting QuickTime to Windows than Microsoft has done porting WMP to Mac OS X. Half the time when I try to view Windows Media under OS X, I get video but no audio because the file uses a codec that's not supported on the OS X version of WMP.

Yes, the trailer for Spirited Away at http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/spirited_away.html really is impressive! (There, we're back on topic.)

There is this huge controversy now about this one Ellen Fiess. This one never aired on TV. Here's the link. . Why? They believe, get this, she was "under the influence" when she did this comerical. Look. Also, here is another link about it here.

Oh my.. I'd say shes baked.

Back on topic. Spirited Away, WOW.. looks great!!!

So, is this the future of Disney animation? Do they just become a "distibuter" of other studios work ala Pixar? Since Disney no longer wants to make traditional animation (according to rumors) , perhaps they are better off doing more of this?
Just a thought.
