Spirit of Aloha??

How is the Spirit of Aloha dinner show? Is the food any good? We're staying at the Poly and wonder if it would be worthwhile on a resort day?

We had a very good time this summer. The show has some corny parts but the dancing is very good. The food is not extraordinary but it is not bad either. Considering the length of the show, the fact it’s all-you-can-eat and booze is included, and the setting, it’s a very good value. We would not go back every time but we really enjoyed it.

It was a one-and-done for me. It wasn’t bad at all, and I am glad I did it once, but it’s not something I feel any desire to do again.

The food is rather pedestrian—like your company cafeteria having Hawaiian day. Good luck getting more than 3 drinks.

But it’s a pretty setting, and the show is fun especially toward the end.

I think it you are staying at Poly and you are having a resort day, it's a fun thing to do. The food is good (my DS devoured the noodles when we went) and the show is cute - the second act with all of the dancing is the best. I'm all for really experiencing a resort when we stay there, so my vote would be to go!

My cousins did it last fall, staying at Poly and were not impressed - much preferred Ohana dinner, which they almost cancelled, since we figured the food would be similar, but apparently not. He had two children, 6 and 9 at the time, and believe said the dancing was the best part, but was not until the end, and they were a little bored sitting through the rest. He was glad he had the free dining, because he did not feel it was worth 2 credits, especially after eating at Ohana for 1 credit, which they enjoyed much more.

The show? High School Musical in the Pacific with an inane and barely follow-able plot. The music and dancing was blah. The only part we enjoyed was the traditional fire dancer at the end.

Don't go there thinking you're going to get a great meal, either. Unlike other buffets or all you care to eat places at Disney, this is served like a wedding reception. Expect some food that would be best served hot to be warm, and some items that should be served cold to be warm.

The food was edible and the show mostly meh until the last firedancer guy. I don't think it is worth the high cost by YMMV.

Do you need to pick tickets up for this once you arrive at your hotel?

I have been twice over a span of about 15 years. The show is probably as good as what you would see in Hawaii (I've done that too). Not great, but some entertainment value is there. I liked the food, ample supply of several choices of meat and veggies served at the table with dessert. I do not drink, so am not sure if there is a limit on alcoholic drinks or not.

Bottom line, if you have not been to a luau type show and there is little to no chance you are going to Hawaii, I would recommend doing the Aloha Show.

If you ever plan on visiting Hawaii in your lifetime or for that matter if you have ever been to Hawaii then I would avoid it.

A few years ago we needed to have tickets printed out by the concierge.

We go every year. It's our traditional last ADR. Same show, same food but the dessert has changed over the years. Auntie Winnie retired. Still a great time. Still full every show we go.

If you have never done it before you should try it at least once. Of course I said the same thing about the Hoop-De-Do Revue and we have done it 3 times now. These shows can be fun.
