Hi there :)

We are staying at the Poly in mid June. We want to do the Spirit of Aloha but are not sure where to put it in our schedule.

I am leaning towards scheduling it on the first night we are there. Some background, though: We are driving down to DW from Pennsylvania. We'll make it as far as we can the first day (Sunday) and then leave from the hotel Monday morning bright and early. We'll then get in to DW sometime early afternoon on Monday.

We were planning on taking it easy the first da....getting our bearings since this is our first time there...and hanging out at the pool(s).

Therefore, I thought if we rest a little...schedule the LATER show of the Spirit of Aloha...it might be a nice "welcoming" or beginning to our trip.

What do you think? Or should we schedule it for later in the week? We are staying 8 nights total.

Oh, and we are a cast of 5....me(37), dh (38), ds(11), ds(8), ds(6). They wouldn't have any problems staying up a little later to do the later luau.

TiA for any advice!!! :wave2:

Bumpity-bump! :) I am making my ADRs today and would really love advice on this.

Spirit of Aloha....do it on the first night ? And is the later time (8:00) a nice time to select?

TiA!!

Hello!

We did Spirit of Aloha our first night on our trip in '04;' DS was 6 at the time. We had fun, we loved the show, but if I had it to do over again, I would not have done it our first night. DS was so happy/excited to be at WDW, that the "last" thing he wanted to do was go the dinner and the show. He wanted to explore, have fun, relax -- he was not thrilled and pouted/dragged his heels about going. He did enjoy it, ultimately, but I felt that the lesson I learned was to keep our first nights very open and flexible. Hope this helps.

Thanks, bleeps! That does help a lot.

I am vacillating between the boys being happy with just being at the volcano pool and then the luau the first day...and them wanting to get to a park. I do know that they have expressed a couple of times that they want to just be at the pool when they first get there.

Then along those lines, we are considering staying another night off site, and if we do this, we could use the first day's park access at the end of the trip (after the off-site stay).

We have relatives in Orlando and want to visit with him at the end of our visit. This is why we would stay off site. We'd like to find a hotel near them, but then it would be nice to still have another 1/2 day at the park if we are really sad about the whole trip ending.

Sorry if that was confusing. Pretty much what I am thinking is that if we don't go to any parks on arrival day, then we can use the day's pass at the end if need be.

I am thinking of relaxing by the pool on arrival day...letting dh nap because he'll be very tired after the long drive...and then going to the late luau. This would give them all a chance to be at the pool and the resort...and we may even ride around on the monorail a bit if we have time...and then still spark our vacation with the Spirit of Aloha!

Whaddya think??? :thumbsup2

Planning is just quite the challenge, isn't it? I think your plan would work fine, but my only advice then if you do go ahead with the luau the first night would be NOT to ride around the monorail, unless you think your kids won't mind seeing MK and not being able to go. There is so much that's so much fun to do at the Poly, that if you just take advantage of that I think you'll do fine....

Thanks again, bleeps :)

I think they would do okay with just seeing the parks.

Hey....just found something out, though. I was just reading my Passporter and it says that they luau is only TUESDAYS - SATURDAYS, so my Monday night plans are out anyway!

Problem "solved" :confused3 I guess!

I think I will be planning the luau for Tuesday then.

Thank you!
:)
