Spirit of Aloha show in August

We're considering using 2 ts credits to see the show. I told my DH it was outside and he was concened about the heat in August. Has anyone been in the hotter months that can tell us if it is comfortable? Do they cool the area at all? SOunds silly, but it can be brutal in August Thanks!

It's been a few years since we've done this one, but it WAS in August.

I will tell you ... we live in the South, and heat in the summer is a way of life. But we just about spontaneously combusted. There are fans, but they just stirred the hot air around. We were at the earlier show - maybe the later show wouldn't be quite as bad.

Of course, maybe feeling like you're in the tropics enhances the theme.

It's definitely a good idea to book the later show, in terms of the heat.

The seating area is 'undercover', and there are plenty of ceiling fans spinning away, but the 5:15 show still gets very warm. Unless of course there is a thunderstorm, which actually adds to the atmosphere of the show, but of course you can't count on that...

What I meant to say is that we faxed our ADRs to the concierge at the Poly so that they will make the ressies for us. I don't have actual ADRs yet, so there is still time to make changes.

I have already thought of a couple changes I want to make..... Hope I don't get on their bad side

Let me just add that if you've never done this dinner and show, you really SHOULD at least once, no matter what the weather. It gets decidedly mixed reviews here in DISWorld, but we enjoyed both the show and the food both times we've been. You'll just have to judge for yourself.

We saw it in late April once a few years back, and the weather was perfect.

We've done the show in September a few times and even in July once, but each time it was for the later show, so I really can't comment on the 5:15 show and how it feels then. At the later shows, we were just fine - very comfortable, although we both love heat. I can tell you that we just did the show in March with our DD5 (it was her first time, and we hadn't been in quite a few years) and we all LOVED it! I thought the food was better than it's ever been and the show was excellent! They invite all the kids up on stage to do the hula, and our whole reason for going was because DD loves the hula. She was in her glory and we got great pictures and a video of her. We had a great time. Which ever time you decide to do the show, give it a try for yourself. I don't think you'll be sorry.

Thanks! I haven't been to the show since I as about 10! I think my sons would enjoy it. How long is the show? My boys will be 5 and almost 3. I don't keep to a regular schedule while in Disney, but it might not be practical either seeing the later show.

The show was maybe just about two hours. But we thought everything moved very quickly. When you are seated, the delicious pineapple bread and wonderful salad and fresh pineapple is already on the table. Then they take your drink order, and a little bit of entertainment takes place, including the part where the kids go up on stage to hula. Then that stops and they serve the main course. You eat and then dessert is served as the main show is starting.
I can understand your concern over going to the later show with little ones that age. That is the same reason we went to the early show. The later one would have been much too late for DD. We enjoyed it so much though, that I would say, if you go pretty regularly, maybe leave it till your next trip, if you might go at a cooler time of year, but if not, I would say go - heat or no heat.

We went to this show in July and thought the whole experience was miserable. We were really hot and my kids thought the show was kind of lame (boys 7 and 9). Now, HDDR is one of our favorites - inside and lots of laughs. Kind of hokey but we love it.

1) Yes, there are celing fans.
2) But, in July and August you will still sweat while eating.

If I can convince my DH, I think we'll give it a shot. I didn't even consider the heat, he did.
