I have just done of search for SOA. There are so many mixed reviews and many seem to tie into the Hoop De Doo Review. I am not interested in hearing from those who want to compare the two or prefer the HDDR. I read enough posts like that already.

I am looking for pictures of SOA, especially the food. Also, if you liked it, what did you like? How old were your kids? What level of seating did you purchase?

Reading the searches, someone referenced Dixie Stampede. Does SOA having you eating without utensils? Is the show like Dixie Stampede or Mideveal Times?

Thanks for the help!

We've done both Hddr and the SOA and I enjoyed both very much. I think the food was better at SOA (at HDDR its chicken ribs and such, which I like but rather that be home made) My kids were DS 2 1/2 and DD 5 when we went to SOA (Cat 1 or 2)and my daughter loved it while DS fell asleep ( past his bedtime) after dinner. At HDDR (cat 1 in front behind pianist)DS was 3 and DD5 1/2 and both enjoyed it tremendously. I think it really depends what you are looking for, I would say the luau is more sophisticated in a way because of the dancing and the story is cute. While HDDR is more cowboyish, hoot hollering and funny, there is napkin waving and clapping etc. I hope this helps you a little. I know most people prefer one over the other but they are both really good in their own right, just depends on what you are in the mood for. I plan a different show each trip, 1st was the luau so DD could see the hula dancing, second was HDDR b/c we were staying at WL and it went with the theme, this trip we are going to La Nouba...

Sorry I don't have pics of the food, just the show

WOW! Dsnymomx2, what great pictures!:worship: Thanks so much for sharing. It does sound like something fun and different. My kids are older and I think that they might really like it.

Does anyone know if there is a discount with the Disney Visa Card or AAA?

thanks dsnymomx2 I am booking this for June because our group wants to go. I have not seen this since I was a kid but we do like HDDR (more for the fun than the food).

Hello,
We did the SOA meal for our 2007 Christmas Dinner. I would give it a 6 out of 10 for the entire experience. We had Cat 2 seating which was good and the show was decent for their dancing talent (not so much on the acting ;) ). The food had good and poor points....you DO have utencils and it is served Family Style. '
Overall, I think it was nice for our choice of Christmas Dinner but would I return anytime soon, no thank you. My 6 and 8 yr old at the time did enjoy the show as well as their boxed kids dinners.

Sorry if sounds so negative...it was good but just expected better.

I don't have pictures of the food but I do have some pictures of the show!

We went in September, the earlier show, my kids are boys, ages 12 and 17. They really enjoyed the food and the show. They had not seen anything similar before. My youngest asked for and got seconds on dessert. It was his favorite and not all you care to eat. :scared1: We enjoyed the food, especially the grilled pineapple and the chicken. We were category 1. It was a beautiful evening.

Stephanie, Mickeymyboy and Momsof2boys, Thanks so much for sharing. Especially Stephanie's food pics. It sounds like a fun and different kind of evening. I think I will surprise my family with it :ssst: :ssst:
