Has anyone been to this theme dinner and care to give their opinions / feedback? We have it booked in January but I have heard mixed reviews...not sure if I want to spend 2 dining credits on it...WWYD? :confused3

Only you will be able to identiy if it was worth 2 TS or not by trying it...
we did it and enjoyed the food...it got rained out on us, but what we saw we enjoyed the show. I think it is worth it, personally!
We have also done Hoop De Doo Revue....awesome and definately worth 2TS!

:wave2: Hi Kimberly! Funny seeing you over here!

We did the luau a couple years ago. The food was incredible. The show was hard to hear (they had us near the kitchen/rest rooms) and my kids got bored. If you do go, make sure to hang out for the fire twirler at the end... very cool.

We did Hoop Dee Doo the year before, and really loved that one. They had a good mixture of slapstick comedy for the kids, and adult humor. If you haven't seen it, that would probably be the better choice.

Either show was totally worth the 2 TS credits IMO.

Our Grand Gathering party of 16, ages 3-37, did this last summer. I booked this to give everyone a true Disney experience and was disappointed. No one was impressed. The food was fine, but other than the fire dancer the show was not very good. There are so many better ways to use 2 TS credits!:confused3

The show is long and has a weak story line. The food is ok but not great. There are FAR better experience at WDW that won't be 2 TS credits.

Enjoyed the food. Agree with the PP that the story line of the show is weak. The second half of the show is much better. I've seen it twice. Once because we thought it would be good and again because our dance team went as a group. I won't be going again unless they change the show.

I have never been there so obviously I can't give you feedback. But we also booked it for January. I don't know if my kids will enjoy it or not, but whenwe looked through the choices that was one they thought they wanted to try. I am also looking at the fact that with the extra free nights with the new special we can afford to put two table service credits towards it. My only fear is if it gets canceled due to weather

Thanks to the original poster for this thread as I was wondering about whether or not to book the luau for our June, 2009 trip. What happens if the show is rained out? How do you know? Do you keep your dining credits? Do they help you get ADRs somewhere else?

It's something we are glad we tried, but have no urge to go again. The show was nice, especially the end part of it. The food however, was not something that I would rave about. Just so-so.

I feel like Ive typed this a hundred times, but I loved the Luau. Is it a fantastic out of this world show..no, but it is good, and very relaxing. Food is above "good".

We always go our first night to get in the DISNEY mood. Its also nice to watch the show and not sit at a dinner table trying to make conversation with the family, who is exhausted from traveling all day. We all eat, watch the show and have a relaxing night. Its not too loud like HDDR..just relaxing and entertaining.

After the show we wonder out to the beach and watch the Elecrtic Light Parade on the water...then head back to our room..wherever it may be...and get a good night sleep for the following day in the parks.

We always have to go to the luau on our trips! The food is so yummy and the show itself is good. Since we've been every year, I have the words memorized to their songs so I sing along.

We went in April. Although we are glad we did, we wont be going back. The food was good, not great. The show parts that had the dancers and fire guy were good...but the story line in between the dancers was very, very cheezy..almost to the annoying stage IMHO.

It's cute, the food was great. We missed part of the show because the monarail broke down and were stuck for about 40 minutes. The manager gave me back 4 TS credits,(we are a family of 4) so it was worth it for just 4 TS credits. We had great seats.....centered one level up, right in the middle. Something you have to do, just to say you did it. :flower1:

I also feel like I have typed this a million times, but NO. NO. NO.

It was the worst of our Disney disappointments, and we don't have a ton of disappointments, and none we make such a strong point of advertising. Food only okay, service poor, show was plastic and lame.

Hoop Dee Doo on the other hand is one of our greatest highlights. We so enjoyed it, food good, service good, show great! You won't regret it!

My family went last month. The food was good but the show is terrible. Also I was at the late show and by 9:30pm my kids were falling asleep. So I never made it to the fire dancer.

I would say use your points for something else.

Here is my 2 cents :goodvibes We went for the first time on 2008 w/ DH 29, Me 28, DS 2, DS 1. If you have small children I wouldn't go. If you don't I really don't know if I would have gone again w/ just DH I do not feel that it was worth 2 credits. The show was kind of drawn out. People were leaving left and right. I mean don't get me wrong it was cute but just not that awesome. Fire dude at the end however WAS AWESOME! Food was ok. Pinnapple/coconut bread A++++ service wasn't fantasic. It just wasn't worth 2 TS for our family. I don't think it would have been worth the 2TS for me and DH.

I have heard Ohana is a lot better food for only 1 TS!

Hope this helps!

I also agree w/ PP about hoop-dee-doop.....Worth the 2 TS. And someone else said cheesy story line VERY CHEESY! AND someone else said this was one of their biggest disappointment of WDW. Mine too. However, I think I have wanted to see this show since I was 12 So i probably built it up. I think it was the one thing that I have EVER been disappointed in with WDW of course right next to having to leave :earsboy: :earsboy:

We loved the Luau! The food was the best we had on that trip. The show was cute but not stellar. Our waitress kept bringing us drinks and food all the time. I would recommend going :thumbsup2
