We are considering trying Spirit of Aloha on our next trip. We have 2 girls who will be 7 and 3. The older one has been to luaus in Hawaii (not Aulani) when she was 5, and loved them. DH and I have been to several, all in Hawaii (Maui, Oahu, Big Island and Kauai). Is Spirit of Aloha like those, is it something different, or is it not at all comparable?

Thanks!

The show was meh honestly. My daughter liked it ok for the most part when she was 5 and we saw it. She did get bored at some point though. The story is kind of hokey. I would skip it if it was me. Hoop Dee Doo is our favorite show. My daughter is now 14 and has loved it since she was young

Yeah it just talks about the meats and then “assorted vegetables and a salad” - doesn’t sound like much.

It's boring for adults but my DD loved it when she was little. I suspect your children will be thrilled.

My DH requests this each time he goes, he's not a WDW fan, so I oblige him ;).

I will say I've seen kids leaving dead asleep, far too expensive to be a nap location. If you're a go, go, go family at WDW, I don't think its a good fit for kids, to put at the end of another long day. We've used it as an anniversary dinner, taken a nice barefoot stroll on the beach when done, its a beautiful resort.

Well. The votes are in! No wonder there were still plenty of spots for the show over Thanksgiving week... we will pass. As you could tell, I wasn’t exactly itching to go! Thank you for your frank opinions!

I have been to Spirit of Aloha twice over a span of about 20 years, While it was enjoyable and I liked the food, it pales in comparison to the real thing in Hawaii. We did a luau at Ko-Olina before Disney built their resort. It was fantastic and the food choices were endless.

My recommendation is for people to go to Spirit of Aloha, if there is little or no chance you will ever go to Hawaii and do the real thing.

Watch it on You Tube and decide if you think they would like it. Youll get mixed reviews here.

I actually enjoy it. Its about 2 hours of sitting in a tropical atmosphere eating Polynesian food! I cant do that at home. Is it the best show ever? No, but its not bad and the ending with the hula and fire dancers is fantastic. Its somewhat educational for kids who can stay awake during the whole thing. The skit talks a lot about the different islands. Nice music too.

Its not Hawaii, but its as close as youll get to it on the mainland. If you prefer to stand with a million people and watch a lazer or firework show at night, then do that. I just like being entertainsed while off my feet for a night or 2. There is nothing wrong with SoA. Watch a video and make your own decision.
