My Mom and I had a reservation from Dallas to Orlando for March 3rd returning on March 6th. I just received an email saying that they had to make a few changes on our reservation. We still leave at 6:05 AM but we won't reach Orlando until 8:50 that night. We have a lay over in Ft. Lauderdale of 10 hours! Then on the return flight we leave at 10:35 AM, we were leaveing at 4:00 and not arriving home until 8:53 that was our original time. We fly from Orlando to Detroit to Washinington to Ft. Lauderdale, and finally to Dallas. It also says the ticket is non refundable. Now, I knew this when I bought the tickets, but I didn't know they could change us this much. Has anyone else had this happen to them and what were you able to do?
Please help I may just cancel if I can get a refund and drive. :worried:

Delta did that to us just recently. Call & change your flight. Delta didn't charge us for changing it. :cool1:

I hope all works out well for you ! ::yes::

Thanks wildernes gal I really don't want to drive, but I want to go see my DD. I hope I get as lucky as you. :)

Yes, call spirit and raise the roof. They should either let you cancel or reroute your trip...

*************Update*************
We contacted Spirit Air and they will give us our money back. Well, we really want to go, so we cancelled our flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando and back. So now I will rent a car and drive from Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando and back again. They wouldn't even take anything off the price, since we changed it. Also, on the reservation they changed us to on the return flight they had us going to Washington, the problem was they didn't give us a flight to return us to Ft. Lauderdale. :confused3 We caught that while we were talking to them. Anyway, we are going. ::yes::

We fly Spirit mostly because it is one of 2 airlines that has a non stop from DTW to MCO. It is worth it to me to have non stop. I am considering SW with one stop if I can get a good enough price, ($100 less each way then Spirit or NWA.)

However there is no way I would bother with Spirit if it wasn't a non stop flight, or at least one small stop with only a short lay over.

Did you at least get a very good price?

Is there any other airline that has a direct, or at least only one stop.

That is just insanity. I was thinking you could get to Orlando from Ft.L faster if you drove. (as I see you are now.) :goodvibes

DisneyPhD-Yes, we got a great price, thats why I couldn't let it go. We got it for $261.30 (total price), now this includes a rt voucher which we receive after April 7th. So, bascially I get two trips for the price of one. Also, since we are renting a car my DD will be able to stay at the hotel with us. This way I can take her to work at the cast member's entrance and see her apartment. It's really all good, even if I did get upset at first.

Good luck, I need to call Spirit today and complain about the treatment recives with a recent flight. I used to really like them. I am not to the point of never flying with them again, but I am no longer loyal. :guilty:

The problem is, they and Northwest are about the only games in town. I too only do nonstops...otherwise it doubles the trip time.

We've had trouble with both Spirit and NWA. We just pick the best price now. I actually got a $126 rt into Orlando in May.

I agree with you, 126 rt isn't bad, rather what I was hoping for. However the ding prices last night were 105 per person round trip. Spirit and NW are showing around 250 for me. (looking for early May also.)

Where from? Your profile says South Fla. Orlando from SF isn't too bad of a trip. (maybe 250 miles?) It is just under a 1,000 from DTW to MCO.
