On the elevator thread I commented about stairs and wondered if I am alone in this. I live in a single story home. I rarely go anywhere there are stairs. One year when my workplace was relocated for construction I did multiple flights of stairs several times a day for an entire school year. We were all huffing and puffing the first few days and all of us noticed how quickly we acclimated and ended up loving the effects of the extra exercise. I know it'd be terrible if I was dealing with an injury, etc., so I'm happy to have a one story for the long term, but I miss having stairs in my life!

I don’t mind stairs. I‘ll take the stairs over an elevator whenever possible.
But when I go to a hotel, I always request ground floor, so I can avoid both.

I work on the third floor and use the stairs. I probably go up & down the stairs 3 - 5 times each work day.

headed to knee replacement. Stairs are currently the enemy. Up is OK, Down is dangerous and painful.
I hear you - I'm in the "waiting for hip replacement" group. Although going up is worse than going down, for me.

Where I work doesn’t have elevators so up and down stairs I go lol.
And honestly not a big fan of elevators.

Yes, we have a 2 story house. Two bedrooms upstairs but the only bathroom is downstairs which is really a drag when you have to get up during the night.

Yes, coming down is now painful for one of my knees. Our offices have two flights of stairs up to where Corporate is located; it's scary sometimes coming down when I'm wearing heels. I hang on tightly to the handrail and step very carefully. Our home has tons of stairs too, which I'm up-and-down probably 10 or more times a day but always without shoes on, which is much easier.

1-2 floors, will use the stairs. More than that and we wait for the elevator going up.
Going down, will usually take the stairs no matter the number of floors up to 4.

I live in a 1 story, so I take the stairs whenever I can. I am so glad we are done with strollers. Now my kids take the stairs with me too.

Yep, I take the stairs whenever possible. I also park way out in the lot. Both drive my kids crazy, lol. It’s free exercise and good for you. Both almost always take less time than waiting around for the elevator or driving around the lot looking for a space.

Our house has stairs so I cannot avoid them.

Also, I work on the 2nd floor at work so I just take the stairs and never bother with the elevator.

We're on the 2nd floor of an apartment building, so if i leave the house, I have to take stairs. If I can avoid the stairs by taking an escalator, elevator or ramp, I will do so.

I have trouble with stairs now (have for the last 4 or 5 years). I can't go up and down like normal people; I have to put one foot, then the other on the same stair (like a toddler does), and steady myself. I have an inner ear condition that causes vertigo almost all the time, plus pain in the knees, ankles and hips (psoriatic arthritis; also hands and wrists but that doesn't have anything to do with stairs, so...)...and being overweight doesn't help either.

I used to do the stairs all the time but with wearing the mask on top of my Lung disease it's extremely hard for me to catch my breath.

I live in a quad-level house so I’m always going up and down stairs. If the wait for an elevator seems long then I will always use the stairs. Also, if the stairs are right next to the elevator I’ll do the stairs then too.

My office is out on the plant floor built above the IT office. I am up and down them all day when running equipment from my office.

The other equipment I run is in an elevated office control room higher than my office, 2 flights of stairs. Up and down those all day when running that equipment.

I counted one time, over 120 flights of stairs in 8-9 hours, 5 days a week. You would think that would be exercise and I wouldn't be the weight I am, LOL.

I've had one hip replacement and both knees operated on. I take the stairs up but, only for a couple of stories. I'm another one who parks way out in lots just for the walk. I have a HP placard, but mainly use it on bad days.

My bedroom is on the second floor, so I do stairs all the time. Also, at my parents' house you need to go up a flight of stairs to get from the driveway to the main floor and I'm over there pretty much every day.
