Just wondering. My oldest DD is expecting her 2nd child at the end of August. My grandson's name is Liam. If the 2nd child is a girl she will be named Liadan. How would you pronounce that?

She wanted to stay with Irish, Gaelic names and one that started with L to go along with Liam. I found the name Liadan and we both thought it was lovely. I thought it would be pronounced as Lee a dan.

If the child is a boy, he will be Logan. We have no problems with pronouncing that.

Lee a Dan.

You are not asking our opinion of the name, correct?

I would pronounce it Lee a dan...my DD6 is Leah so obviously I like Liadan too..:thumbsup2

I am going to guess "leea-dan". I like it, very pretty. Also good potential for Lea as a nickname if desired.

I love it! I think it's pretty, but I do have a Liam, so my taste is similar to yours :) We got a lot of flack a few of the inlaws when I was pregnant, and my country-boy FIL still pronounces his name "Limb", but it's our choice, and he was always our Liam from when we first found out we were having a boy.

I would have thought Liadan by looking at it would be pronounced "Leah-din", and it looks like I was close, as the pronunciations were

LEE-ə-din or LEE-din

I would pronounce it- Lee ay din

I think its very pretty

Leah Dan.
Gonna be tough to have one named Liam and one named Liadan.
Kind of close in terms of how they sound.

of course, my name is Patty and my brother's name is Bobby and my mother mixes us up:scared1:.

Thank you everyone. Yes, the names are similar in sounding with Liam and Liadan. Deep down I am hoping for a girl, but if the baby happens to be Logan that is awesome also. :thumbsup2 Just hope he or she is healthy!

As someone with an Irish name that gets pronounced many different ways (always dreaded the first day of school), just the fact that there were so many different answers to your question raises a red flag for me. I would've been thrilled to change my name to Kathy or Lisa! My kids have traditional, easy to pronounce names.
