I walked to school regardless of the weather. I remember some days we'd be frozen (wore uniforms)or soaking wet by the time we got to school.
What I think is funny is my mother was home and never offered us a lift!
Times have changed, my DD doesn't like waliking to the corner bus stop if it's drizzling. :rotfl:

When I was in K, my school was far far away, so I rode a bus. From 1 to 6, I walked. In JHS and HS, we had a courtesy bus for a few years and then they took it away, so we walked.

My mother hardly ever drove us to school.

We lived in Indiana when I was growing up. When the weather was too rainy, cold or windy I'd ride the bus. Otherwise I'd walk. 2 miles. Uphill, both ways...

Seriously, we did live about 2 miles from school, and I would walk home most afternoons that it was nice. Soccer fields were about halfway between, and I usually had practice after school.

I voted other. When I lived in Indiana I walked, but when I moved to Illinois I took the big yellow school bus. :)

While attending grade school, I walked. Then in high school I walked to the grade school and then caught a bus to school. I attended Catholic school for twelve years and there was only one Catholic high school in town.

I had to walk 3/4's of a mile to the bus stop - and if I was kept after, I had to walk a mile home because the late bus dropped us off further away..

Only had one car in family and father used it to get to work. We lived too close to all the schools so I walked or road bike. Took bus only when our elementary school was being updated and we had a split session with another school in town. Had to wait for college to get a ride to classes.

I had to check 3...

I got a ride from a friends parent in elementary school. I walked to Junior High School (ah... Middle School now). I rode the bus to High School.

Walked to elementary. High school was far, so we carpooled in the morning and I took a city bus home.

Every way you can imagine.

For a couple of years in elementary school, my friend's mother drove me. Then I walked for several years. When I got to high school, I took the bus. Then when I got a car (my junior year of H.S.), I drove.

OTHER

10 different schools and I have done all of the above including driving myself.

But before the driving days--I was able to ride the bus, had times where my parents had to take me, and at one time lived near a neighborhood school and walked.

This is my night to follow Lisa! Plus she beats me ! I was going to say I did all of the above at my 9 schools!

All 13 years of school took a bus. HS was less than 1 mi, but no sidewalks, so they could not require us to walk. In my DDs school there is only one subdivision that is bussed, this was a whole new concept for me, so I drop off and pick up every day - she will be in 4th grade next year, and will be riding her bike to school with all the other kids! It's about 1.25 miles. There are bike lanes and sidewalks, but most of the kids ride on the sidewalk.

You didn't have an option for someone dragging you up the road. That is what my grandmother had to do to me several times, especially on spelling test day.
