Spin off from the lunch cost thread... does your school offer breakfast?

Wow. Free? I've never heard of that.

ETA: I see others have free breakfast, as well. I wish our schools did!

I'm sure it is not FREE, it is likely a government funded program. Nothing is free but that is a completely different topic

Over 95% of the students at the school I work at are on free or reduced lunch. They serve breakfast as well and it is free to those that are on free/reduced lunch. Bagels, cereal, and fruits.

Not at my kids school but at the school where my MIL works, yes. Its a lower income area school, and they get free everything - breakfast, lunch, dinner (if they are in the after care). Of course they have to have proof that they need assistance, etc, but pfew - I wish my kids school provided that.

One poster said it was funded by grocery stores in their area.

I'm aware that "nothing is free", but it sure would help a lot of children who couldn't afford breakfast everyday but fall in that area where they are not eligible for free breakfast and lunch.

All the public schools (except charters) in my area serve breakfast. Cost is based on the students lunch eligibilty (free, reduced or full). Full price is $1.25, Students at reduced prices: $.30 Daily or $1.50 per week.
