Spin-Off from Moana Thread: ???

I'm not sure if you're referring to his preference (?) towards rap, but I honestly found the music to be typical Disney. Unless the Polynesian-themed drum beats could be considered rap.

Just FYI in case that is the style you dislike. You may like it just as well as any other Disney movies.
I do dislike Rap, but honestly it is the majority of his style. I am not a fan of his show In the Heights either. I will keep an open mind when I eventually see it. :goodvibes

Maybe that's the problem, Disney has been making too many movies that are not about white Europeans who sing strictly in English? I have no idea what some people's issues with the movie are, I haven't seen it yet myself. Someone said they didn't like Lin Manuel Miranda's style, but his first hit musical In The Heights was not all rap music. Doesn't it take years to make a movie? Was Hamilton even a big thing when Disney started Moana?

I saw part of an interview with Miranda who said he was writing the music for Moana while working on (I assumed performing in) Hamilton. fwiw - he said writing for Moana was a really nice break from Hamilton.

I'm just as perplexed as everyone else as to what could possibly be "too PC" about Moana.
