I took my first spin class yesterday and it was a GREAT workout. I do try to go to the gym everday however, so I would def say this is not for the beginner. However I was wondering if anyone knows how many calories you burn in one of these classes? I realize it will vary on the amount of resistance and the speed of the bike, but I'm just looking for a general idea.

I would def reccomend this class as a way for any intermediate or advanced exerciser to get your butt kicked! Try it and you'll love it!! :)

Hi Pixiedust! :wave2:

Here is a activity by activity calories-burned calculator: http://www.am-i-fat.com/index.html Use the menu on the left and select 'exercise calorie calculator.' It can give you a fairly good estimate, but will probably vary a bit due to your fitness level, amount of lean muscle mass you have, etc. Hope this helps!

I took a spinning class last summer on a cruise, and to describe it as "intense" would be an understatement! :faint: I don't think it can be beaten as low-impact cardio and killer lower body work. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself!

I want to try spinning too!! On Fridays we have a half hour spinning class at the gym at work so I think I'll ease my way into spinning by trying that first. I watch the spinners at 24 hour fitness in awe because it looks like HARD work! Most of the spinners there have special bike shoes and everything!

CruisingCA- Def do it! You'll love it! You might hate the instructor, but at the end it feels amazing!

Luvmydogs- Thanks for the calculator!
