How do split stay and park tickets work. I am used to park tickets being on room key card -- can that still happen? Any advice on the best/only way this works will be appreciated. Thanks

When I called CRO about doing a split stay, they told me that I needed to make two reservations. At the time, I was thinking about staying at POP from June 21-24, and then at AKL from June 24-28..and they said the cheapest way to do it if you want to include dining plan is to book my stay at POP with a 7 day park hopper, and then book the AKL stay with just a 1 day ticket. I supposed if you are not going to add the dining plan, then it wouldn't make a difference? Hope this helps.

I am not positive, but I think you need to keep track of two separate dining plans if you do this. All of your meal and snack credits for the Pop stay will expire on the 24th and not carry over. Be sure you use all 3 "days" midnight.:)

You are absolutely right about the park tickets!

You are absolutely right about the dining plan! Your dining priviledges will expire for your POP stay at 12 midnight on the 24th.

We are booked a split stay with AKL Dec 1-5 and CSR Dec 5-9. It is indeed two separate reservations.

Our AKL reservation has 8 day park hoppers and dining
Our CSR reservation has 1 day base ticket and dining.

If we chose to not have dining for our CSR stay (which wouldn't make sense to me) we could just have bought a 9 day park hopper for our AKL stay and just have CSR room only. But since you have to have at least a 1 day base ticket to purchase the dining plan, that is what we had to do.

I've talked to CM's a lot about this, so any questions feel free to ask.

I am not on the dining plan. I quess my question is will I have to have seperate park tickets and room keys or can my park tickets somehow be added to my room key as is normaly the case? Thanks

Here is what I am doing in this situation: I have one reservation for 4 nights that has a 9 day park hopper attached to it. I have a second reservation for 4 nights that is room only. My first reservation will have the park tickets attached to the room key. When my first reservation is complete, I will still have several days of park tickets left. Thus, when I then check into the second hotel, I will have them transfer the remaining days of park tickets onto that room key. I understand that this will work, but if someone knows otherwise, please let me know.

You can ask them to put them onto your new room key, but that isn't always the case. I asked the same question when I called CRO. The CM I spoke to said that you would still use your first key to use your "ticket portion". You would end up having two key cards. But there are some "friendly" CM's that could possibly transfer your left over tickets onto your new key card.

And to answer the OP's question....yes, the tickets are on your room key card.

I did that very thing 2 years ago. Started at POR with a 10 day ticket. After 4 days we moved to WL. The CM at check in WL said I had to go see Concierge Desk. Waited 20 mins there then the CM there said it could not be done. After going round with her (she was the only one there) I gave up as that I now had no confidence that she would be able to do it right even if she had agreed. Well, while sitting on one of the sofas in the lobby a wandering CM (greeter I would guess) came over to say hello and asked if something was wrong. Apparently I must have looked unhappy. I explained the situation to him and the other CMs reaction, he politely took my fist full of room keys and park tickets and disappeared behind the counter and "bridged" them for me. I just called the Ticket line today to ask if I could do this when we go down next month with a room only reservation and tickets I plan to get there. I was told it can definitely be done but not all CMs know how or are willing to take the time and just to insist to speak to a manager if Concierge can't/won't do it.

The concierge can take tickets off room keys and put them onto paper tickets, take paper tickets and put them onto keys, or transfer tickets from one key to another.

What you can't do is have more than one base ticket on the key at the same time. (e.g., you can't combine days left on an old ticket with a new ticket that's already on your key. You have to use the new ticket up, have them take it off the key, then move the other ticket on.)
