Spiderman -vs- FJ

HiHo all, July will be my 2nd visit to IOA. The first time (last year) I was sick as a dog! A summer cold did me in. I did, however make it on FJ after an 1 1/2 hour wait of head pounding, nose blowing joy!. I did not hate it (i would do it again), but I'm more of a Haunted Mansion kinda guy. How is the intensity of Spiderman compared to FJ? Thanks....

Spider-Man isn't near FJ's intensity. It's very smooth, but it can whip you around.

Agreed! FJ is much better IMO. I didn't see the hype with Spiderman.

I find Spiderman more jerky but FJ has way more motion in it...albeit smoother motion.

I never said I like FJ better. In fact I've never been on it. Spiderman is my third favorite ride ever in fact.

I just rode spiderman a few times this past weekend and I noticed a considerable toning down of the "spinning"

I remember that it used to spin you pretty fast, and I used to come off it very dizzy! Since the re-do it feels not as intense with the spinning.

Essentially spiderman is FJ but your in a car with a bunch of people instead of a 4 person bench. Well maybe not the SAME but more like Spiderman is FJ light?

I hadn't realized they changed the ride part of Spiderman. I look forward to less spinning.

It's weird, I hate spinning but that bit on Spiderman didn't affect me at all

A matter of personal opinion..I liked Spiderman more..Only slightly, but I did like it more.

This comes back to some very basic principles that apply to all rides:

The Simpsons is technologically superior to Back To The Future (so it should be with 20 years advancements in simulation!)...but did that make it better? Hell no!! The pre ride details, music, and nostalgia of Back To The Future The Ride will ALWAYS be unbeatable. Hitting 88mph then arriving in 2015 to chase down Biff was going to be hard to be excitement wise. It was based around one of the best films ever made.

The same can be said for the Harry Potter ride. Spiderman IS cooler than Harry Potter, and will outlive it for many years to come. Taking on a ton of cool super villains is far cooler than flying around on a wooden bench with some nerds (I'm quite a fan of Harry Potter btw, before the diehard fans jump in ) But it's true.
