Spiderman question

I went to IOA when it was still in preview and I rode Spiderman. I could have sworn that the name of the vehicle is the Scoop and We're Scoop Team One. However, I went to IOA today and noticed that they called us Team Spyder and the vehicle is the Spyder. While in attraction, you hear JJJ call you "Scoop".

Am I going crazy?

And the vehicle is sponsored by Toyota! (maybe that's the conspiracy)
Nah, you're not goin' crazy. Even the pre-show calls it Spydr.
Wouldn't be surprised if it's one day called the Corollanator, or sumthin' to that effect.

Actually, I'm a huge Toyota fan, and I recall that it was showing "SPYDR" way before Toyota was the sponsor, like only a few months after IOA opened. I thought it was odd all the way back then.

so, has it always been called Spyder or did they change it? I looked at the light up panel at the front of the ride vehicle and it said "SCP"

The vehicle is called the 'Scoop', but at one time, before opening, the name 'Spyder' was considered. It seems that the captions for the saftey video was completed before that decisions was finalized, that's why we see them called "Spyder" in the subtitles (even though the video says "Scoop"). Aside from the captions on the safty video, there's no other mention of "Spyder", especially a verbal one, as far as I know.

Ignore the "SPYDR" caption bit. Also, the ride was sponsored by Dodge for a few years, prior to Toyota. What DocBosch said is basically true. Just remember that is is the Scoop and that's what it will be for all time. The "SPYDR" is just an oops.

Actually, no, it's still S.P.Y.D.R. because Toyota likes to promote the MR2 Spyder, like the one sitting out front painted for Spidey.

Uh, no. The SPYDR captioning was there LONG before Toyotoa ever became a Universal sponsor. It was a mistake that was never fixed. Since Day 1, the vehicles have been SCPs (pronounced 'scoop'), and to this day, all verbal references in the pre-show videos, queue paging, and the ride itself calls it the SCP.

I second that motion.

It has nothing to do with sponsorship. It has been there since day 1. The Toyota Spyder is just an interesting coincidence.
