How similar is the motion of the Spiderman ride to that of The Simpsons? I rode the Simpsons today and hated it. I kept my eyes closed nearly the entire time. Having second thoughts now about Spiderman. Do you spin?

there are two sections you will have some spinning on Spiderman.

it's not bad and very tolerable for most.

if it bothers you, look at your feet and you will be fine.

Normally I don't have a problem with any rides - but I thought my stomach permanently moved to my throat during the Simpsons. I felt horrible for hours. Spiderman wasn't a big deal. All my kids liked it too. hth

Does the actual vehicle spin or does the film just simulate spinning?

the first spinning is when hydro-man throws something at you, the car is surrounded by fog and spins around to get away.
this is brief, a few turns around and that is it.

at this part, the ride spins.

the second time is near the end when hobgoblin lassos the car.
you will feel spinning and as your car drops down (just a feeling, it doesn't drop), spidey will lasso the car and you stop before falling to the ground.

for this section, it is due to the film you feel like you are spinning.

that 's the only 2 spinning sections i recall.

i have been on this ride so many times, i had to think about the spinning question..

Ride
After donning night vision goggles (3D glasses) the "cub reporters" get in the Scoops and leave the loading docks to a New York back alley where they encounter Spider-Man. He warns that he is in for the most dangerous night of his life and for the guests to be careful. You can also see an Iron Man billboard in this scene (when Spider-Man jumps on a car). Nearly missing a trash truck, the guests enter a warehouse where the Sinister Syndicate are holding the Statue of Liberty hostage. Once spotted, Electro, Scream, and Doctor Octopus attack and hurl the Scoop into the sewer, where Spider-Man is waiting. After he fends off Hydro-Man there, the guests escape narrowly to the river where Hobgoblin (comics) attacks with exploding pumpkins and sends guests into the streets. Doctor Octopus lifts the Scoop using an anti-gravity cannon. Spider-Man attempts to pull it down, but is attacked by all the supervillains. Spidey thwarts them, but not before Doctor Octopus disengages the anti-gravity device, sending the Scoop on a 400-foot (120 m) free-fall until it is rescued by Spider-Man's webbing, where it stops over a sewer that says "Not an exit". Then Spider-Man thanks the guests for their help and sends them back to the Daily Bugle, where he has rigged the anti-gravity cannon to lift Jameson to the ceiling in his office.
[edit]Ride effects

There are 13 large screens in the attraction, 12 of which use 3D projection.[2] The process utilizes two projectors that have polarizers to interact with each lens of the 3D glasses. By blocking light from one projector with each lens, the 3D effect is achieved.
The illusion of levitating the ride vehicle is achieved by a choreographed combination of several elements: the on-screen visuals with faux-projected windows to the left and right; a large, collapsible building facade; the vehicle's DOF (Degrees of Freedom) motors moving slowly and without stops; and overhead fans blowing air down onto the vehicle. Afterward, two IMAX screens in the following scene allow for the feeling of being whipped high above the city during the final showdown.
Some effects that many people do not notice are the collapsing bridge overhead as Hobgoblin throws a pumpkin at the bridge support, and Jacob's Ladder, to the left of the scene where Electro shocks the Scoop.

The Simpsons is indeed intense. I found I was more jostled by Spiderman than anything -- it's definitely not the 3D falling through the air so fast it makes you dizzy kind of ride (which is most of what I remember from The Simpsons) :scared1:

I rode both in December. Spiderman did not make me nauseous, but the first time I rode the Simpsons it did.

The first time I rode Simpsons, I sat in the front of the car, the second time the back. That was much better and no nausea.
