Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on board?

Does anyone know if the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is playing on the ships? It's a Sony-distributed movie, though produced in conjunction with Marvel, and they kept advertising it as "only in theaters", so I worry. We have a cruise coming up in February, and I'm trying to decide if I should just go see the movie (which my DD16 says is "the best Marvel movie she's ever seen" - and she's a MCU fanatic) or if I can wait and watch it on-board.

Thanks!

Not februarys but doesn't look promising.

Thanks - I was hoping someone would have January info, since it's too early to get the info for our end-of-Feb cruise. DH thinks that maybe because it's Sony, they won't pick it up until it's out of theaters, but I'm doubtful it will play - even though it's apparently pretty successful. I guess we'll either go see it or wait until it comes out on Blu-Ray.

The movie is Sony distributed and not MCU. If they were going to show it on the ship, it would already be showing. Disney opens new movies on the ship at the same time that they do at theaters on land.

It appears that Disney is only doing distribution on this in Finland and Russia. Don't think it's going to be onboard. USA distribution is being handled by Columbia and Sony according to IMDb.

My dh saw it yesterday. He's not really a Marvel fan, but said it was really, really good.

Spiderman Homecoming was also a Sony distributed movie but Disney made special arrangements with them to show it. So it does happen. Apparently not for into the spiderverse however. :(

The difference is that the current live action Spiderman, starting with his appearance in Captain America: Civil War, is fully integrated in the MCU and produced by Kevin Feige with Marvel Studios, which are owned by Disney. There is still a legal relationship with Sony/Columbia, thus the shared distribution rights.

Spiderverse is not part of the MCU, it is not produced by Marvel Studios. There is a legal relationship with Marvel there, but this is a Sony animation picture. Disney doesn't have distribution rights to the film, so they are unlikely to show it on the ships.
