Spicy Prices With Virgin

we wont go economy now that we experienced PE, we only went PE as I have sciatica/ trapped nerves in leg and needed extra room to move about!!
wayne do you think the prices will come down over xmas or is it a guessing game??

Come down for when? Like now they have offers on until mid march. They tend to have sales every few months to cover the following few months but if its school hols you are looking for especially August doubt they will drop much at all.

Luckily we have no problem with economy, Both myself and DW get sat in seat and sleep most of the way every flight, DS is not so lucky he cant sleep well on a plane

we were thinking of going next Oct/Nov.
think we'll hold on for a bit before booking

If you go either early Oct or into Nov then I would wait unless you see a great offer, especially Nov its about the quietest month of the year. Just try avoid Oct half term, flights are a little more pricey that week.

Hi Jeanette
First of all how was your holiday?? As you know we have been looking to go next december and I have watching the prices of the flights and they have been great for nov and december.Going in 2 days they are £326 return in economy sorry didn't check PE but when I priced up last week for a dummy going december they were £560 return PE going 10th december come back xmas eve which is when are planning to go next year. They seem to change constantly .Sometimes I have looked it has only been £20 difference between using miles and not so to be honest I wouldn't waste the miles and save them up to use at a dearer time.It seems to be cheaper coming back xmas eve rather than the 23rd so we are going to go for that.Renting DVC points so am really looking forward to it-only 13 months to go:eek: :cheer2: :sad2:

Found out I'm going to be a nanny next June:eek: so we were all hoping to go at the end of oct. Now looking at that but just the 3 of us,we might possibly go in nov, still very undecided though. We would love to go around Xmas but can't because it's dh busiest time in work and they won't allow him to...

Gosh, Sun 16th Dec out and Tues 1st Jan back £678.60 direct with Virgin LGW-MCO with a month to go, considering it's nearly £600 for Oct half term that's pretty good!! United indirect are £4000+!!! :rotfl2:

I was always under the impression that flights are at their cheapest if you book them as soon as they are released.

Is this not so?

No, not true. There are so many factors determine the prices, it is impossible to know the best time to book. If its an out of season flight they tend to be more expensive when released then offered cheaper in sales. For peak time flights they release them at a price they want, if sales are slow they will reduce but if they sell faster than expected they will increase them. Not often school hol dates are included in sales.
For charter flights then sometimes the cheapest is last minute off peak for eg you can go next week for £234 incl all taxes with Thomas cook for 2 weeks, leave it nearer and I have seen them come down alot more recently.
Flight prices are way too complex to try and understand, you need to get a feel for prices for your dates then book as soon as you feel the price is right(then try not to look again:lmao: ).

Thanks for the advice.

We have no choice but to go over a half term holiday, so in this case would you think booking on release may be the best option?

we booked last feb to go over this octobers half term, a few months later the price was cheaper, as they (virgin) had special offers on! so sometimes its swings and roundabouts..

As Jeanette says you cant know, Just looked at Virgins prices for latest they have releases for next Oct, upto 26th so week before half term. £568 each, I would not pay that but I am very flexible would go indrect or even drive to London if a big enough saving. Last time we went in October with Virgin I only paid that price including 3 weeks hotel, would not pay it for flight only.
How long are you going for? is it just the week or 2 weeks?

Yikes, thats a lot!
We won't actually be going back to WDW until October 2009 (for our DFTW ), but I'm doing a bit of a price watch for 2008 to get a rough idea of when the good deals are to book.
Unfortunately we have to go during half term as we have teachery types with us, so it is most likely we will have to fly on the Saturday (24th Oct 2009), but me and Si may go out earlier on the Thurs or Fri if the flights are cheaper at all, I'm guessing they will be bumped up all around the half term period though.
I think we may be flying back on Sunday (8th Nov 2009) to fit in a 3 night cruise at the end of our WDW stay.

Thanks again Jeanette. I told my Brother about it, he managed to get an Upper class seat for £1,400 early March to Vegas. Is that cheap? I complain at anything over £400 for a flight:rotfl2:

And Congratulations on 4,000 posts party:

No Idea if its cheap price, I like A BARGIN and like you scout around for the best price!!!:thumbsup2
never even realised i was on to 4000 posts , i'll have to have a dance on the community forum !!
