I am thinking of booking a reservation at Spice Road Table so that we are dining during Illuminations. Are there fairly decent views from most tables? What is the best time to make an ADR? Is 8:30 too late?

Yes 8:30 is way too late. Anyone seated at that time is staying at their table for Illuminations.
All tables do not have great views - some do, some don't
I would think - other opinions ? - perhaps 7:45

That is kinda what I figured. I grabbed an 8:00pm reservation. I figure that should give us plenty of time to get seated/settled in before Illuminations at 9pm.

There are indoor and outdoor tables. Outdoor there are approximately 5 along the rail at the lake. They will have a view. Probably the next row to them will have a decent view as well. The ceiling isn't terribly high so don't expect a great view much farther in. There is no stand and view area in the restaurant so you will have to stay at your table. I took the photo below right at the fence (you can see it on bottom) so you see there isn't much seating. Inside I think there is about 6 tables as well sitting along windows. Note there is also an island in the view that may affect the inside tables seeing the globe etc. Not optimal seats and with so few, taking your chances.

Thank you so much for the great photos. We have never been to Epcot so I am going at this completely blind. At least this will be our second night at Epcot so we can check it out and then decide if we want to cancel.

If I were an Illuminations veteran (which I am) I would eat here and just enjoy the sounds and what I could see. But for those wanting a prime view of the show, you truly are better off staking out a good spot for it. The FP+ area is actually the space you can see in the second picture between those two buildings (gift shops). That picture shows about 1/3 of the seats. We sat second row in from the country side and that is what this picture is. You can see we would see parts of it but all the columns and ceiling would block much too.

PS We loved the food/drink there. I'm not a huge hummus fan but couldn't get enough of theirs.

I agree with HopperFan. If this is your first time viewing Illuminations I highly recommend that you experience it outside along the lagoon. It is so much more than fireworks. I would eat early and then find a spot to enjoy Illuminations.

Have you been on your trip yet? Did you do SRT with the hope of seeing Illuminations? If so, how'd that work out? That's my plan for November but would love to hear how that worked out for you!
