SPG GOLD question?

On our last trip we had a Gold card. SPG just sent it to us even though we didn't have enough points to qualify. I just received my new SPG card (the Gold expired) and we're back to Prefered guest status. Anyway to get a Gold card? I do have a SPG AmEx card.

Just call up the SPG # and give them your Starwood Amex number. We did that and they automatically upgraded us to SPG Gold. You can then print your SPG Gold card off the Starwood website while you wait for your new SPG Gold card in the mail. HTH!
