Spent the night in the ER...updated!

with my DH having a Kidney Stone! This is his first - and it was BAD! The nurse was kidding with him about knowing how I felt when I was in labor After they gave him morphine he was feeling better. Did a cat scan and confirmed it was a kidney stone. The whole staff was wonderful, but it has been a loooooooong day!

I went through the same thing in the ER with my DH last month! It is very scary! The nurse asked my DH if he had been taking Tums recently (YES). She said the mag. and calcium in the Tums can cause kidney stones. Calcium and mag. is also hidden in energy bars, etc. An ounce of prevention is worth a lb. of cure... Good luck to your DH.

My dad had a bout with them in april drs. said all clear (after he passed them ) Over 4th of july he ended up in the er out of state. he was so gray they took one look at him and bypassed all the pre dr stuff and wisked him in so fast his head was spinning. Fri he's back to his primary then to the uriologist for the IVP hopefully soon he's sick and tired of this. So are mom and I.

aw, bless his heart! i have been told that kidney stones are one of the most painful things in the world, esp for men.

Well he finally passed the stone about 1:00 this afternoon - now he feels all better. Funny how he was the one with the pain, yet he slept for 10 hours and I haven't sleep since 6:00 am yesterday Just glad he is better! We are suppose to go camping this weekend and I just knew I was going to be pulling a camper for the first time!

Glad to hear the stone has passed. I had one back in Sept. of '02 and they are painful!

Tell him to be sure and drink lots and lots of water. Don't want him to have to go through that again in the future!
