We are thinking about doing Hoop De Doo for the first time in June. We have never been to Fort Wilderness and would like to spend the day there prior to the show. My question, since we are staying offsite, will it be a problem driving our car and parking all day?

Thanks.

No problem, they will just have you park in the overflow lot and use the bus to get into the Fort, then you will have to walk once in side or keep using the buses.

As double r said,

come on over and spend the day. About the only thing non-Fort guests CAN'T do is use the pool.

Besides hitting the Trading Posts some other things you could do is:

1. If you have little kids they can ride ponies (adult led) down by Pioneer Hall for about $5 per kid.

2. The beach and playground area by Trails End and Crockett's Tavern is a great place for kids to play.

3. At night, depending on the time of your HDDR, there is a Campfire/Singalong at 8pm in the middle of the Fort with Chip & Dale. You can roast marchmellows, get autographs or pictures, or stay for the outdoor movie that will role about 840pm.

4. Any of the fireworks shows at the MK have their music piped over to the beach at FW so folks gather at the time to see the light show over the water.

So come on over and enjoy the Fort. :wave2:

Thanks for all the information. My husband is wanting to stay at the Fort after this trip. I thought we would hang out and get a feel if it. I also want to thank y'all for being the nicest bunch of people. I really enjoy reading all the camping threads. Everybody is so friendly and willing to answer questions.

We live on the east coast of FL and often put our bikes on the back of the car, drive to the Fort, park and ride our bike through the loops. Have breakfast or lunch at trails end or pack a picnic lunch and find a shady bench. Of course we look through the stores never know when there will be new items.

The only time parking is a problem is holidays or special events. Then just park at the Wilderness Lodge and take the bus to the Fort. Counter Service at the WL is also very good and table to eat outside near the pool.

Enjoy
