Spending my birthday in Disney! Oct 2010 PTR - UPDATED 10/11 TR STARTED

Wow! Their VIP sounds much better than the NKOTB VIP. You get a meet and greet and a photo with them but from what I've heard, it lasts all of 30 seconds and you're with a group of about 10-15 other girls. If one of them wasn't being very talkative or in a bad mood, I'd be really frustrated after paying all that money!

I wonder if I went to Coney Island during the week if it would be so crowded? Maybe we'll try again later on during the summer. We still have credits left on our ride card for the one pier!

Of course their VIP is better, I mean BSB IS better! I'm just kidding! Don't kill me!! I'm sorry!! :rotfl2: I think which tier of VIP you get depends on your group pic. I know some specifically said individual and lower ones said group. That is a lot of money for not a lot of stuff. I would MAYBE pay that much to like hang out with them for a whole night or something. But Nick Carter would fall in love with me and take me on a date and I wouldn't have to pay anything. :rotfl2:

Coney Island probably is less crowded on weekdays I would think. Do lots of kids go there just all the time for the summer on weekdays though? Like the locals? I know I would haha

So what are the dates for IASW being closed? That's crazy...I didn't hear that one! Landon loves that ride! I would KILL to stay in the MK until 1 am. One day, one day!

There would be no BSB without NKOTB. That's all I'm sayin! :snooty:

I have no idea what Coney Island is like during the week. That was my first experience there! Maybe we'll go back when we both have a day off. We'll see!

IASW is closed 8/1-10/22. Maybe there's a slight chance it will open early but they're usually pretty on target with their dates for refurb!

Hahaha you're too funny. Please don't hurt me but...I don't even know if I know any NKOTB songs. :confused3 The song I associate with them is from LFO...you know, "New kids on the block had a bunch of hits, chinese food makes me sick." :rotfl2:

How far is Coney Island for you again?

I'll get there days after the refurb starts! Darn! Oh well...I think I'll live and luckily Landon is too young to know he's missing a ride he loved last time!

Oh, you're so young! NKOTB was before your time. Let's see, their big hits were: The Right Stuff, Please Don't Go Girl, I'll Be Loving You Forever, Hangin Tough, This One's For The Children, Step By Step, Tonight. They had a bunch of hits is right! :rotfl:

Coney Island driving wise is about an hour. But since you have to take a combination of tunnels and bridges to get there which results in traffic, probably more like an hour and a half! There's also a subway that goes there but the subways in NY can be kinda shady...

Day 2 - Animal Kingdom & My Birthday!

So since MK will be open until 1 am the night before and we'll probably all be tired from traveling, I figure we'd sleep in a little bit this day. And by sleeping in, I mean be at the bus stop by 10 am the latest. I picked AK for this day because it can't fill a whole day and we have dinner reservations this night. I'm usually at AK for about 3 to 4 hours max. I like AK, don't get me wrong, there just isn't enough to do.

Must Do:
Expedition Everest - DUH! That's a no brainer.
Kilamanjaro Safari - another no brainer. We'll probably head to this first.
Dinosaur
Primeval Whirl - this ride is too much fun not to do!
It's Tough To Be a Bug

Do If Time:
Kali River Rapids
The trails
Rafiki's Planet Watch

I'd like to see either FOTLK or Finding Nemo. I prefer FOTLK since you can pretty much just walk right in. That's almost impossible with Finding Nemo and I don't want to waste time waiting in line to get in for the show.

As for lunch, I have no idea where to go. I never do CS in AK. I know of the Flame Tree BBQ but considering I'm not a huge fan of BBQ sauce...:confused3 I've also heard about Pizzafari. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I expect to be done with AK by mid to late afternoon. After that, we'll head back to SSR and I think I definitely want to hit up the pool (and pool bar for a bday drink ;) )for awhile. I usually feel like I'm dying when I leave AK. Does it seem like that park is hotter than the others?? Is it just the atmosphere that makes you think that??

We have an ADR for Ohana at 8:05. Wishes starts at 8 so there's no chance of getting to watch it from our table like last time unless by some miracle we're seated right on time! After Ohana, I was thinking of maybe hitting up the Boardwalk area and checking out Jellyrolls. I've always wanted to go there and never got around to it! Has anyone ever been?

3 months and 23 days to go! Look at Mickey slowly but surely getting to the SSR!

I absolutely love the Yak & Yeti counter service location. I'm not even a big fan of Chinese food and I still like it :) Plus you can get adult beverages around the corner or a Frozen Coke across the way!

I was thinking about the Yak & Yeti counter service but it didn't look like it had much based on the menu I saw on DIS. I've eaten at the TS place and loved it. I'll have to take a look as we're going to EE. :)

Can I just tell you how much I love Old Navy? Today was $2 tank top day and since I had to work today, I decided to stop in on my way to work. I'm glad I didn't wait until after because after seeing what it was like in the afternoon for $1 flip flop day...:scared1: It wasn't too crowded yet since it was only 8 am and I got 5 tanks for $10! My fellow Disney vacation-mates are going to have no problem spotting me if they lose me in a crowd. :rotfl: Two of the tanks I got are the brightest things you've ever seen. Bright green with blue stripes and pumpkin orange with pink stripes. :lmao: Can't miss me!

I bought the same ones!!! Being an employee, I also got to purchase one on Thursday and I got the tealish one with purple stripes. One, and only one and I couldn't use my discount. I went today and was in line by 6:40ish am. I felt so stupid because I work there and I knew my friends were going to laugh at me. I bought the same ones you got plus a white one (you can never have too many white tanks) and I got 2 for Madison.

 If we were going to Disney the same time, I would totally plan a day for us to wear our matching tanks and make sure we ran into each other. I was eyeing the teal and purple one but got the gray and white striped instead, plus those two I mentioned and solid purple and raspeberry colors. Who cares if they laugh at you?? It's worth it! :rotfl:

I'm so jealous of both of you for your shirt purchases. How do you find out about the deals of the day?

Your plans look GREAT!! And I'm so jealous of your Old Navy deals. Love love love Old Navy!!

Have you considered Rain Forest Cafe in AK for lunch? If you're looking to just do counter service or have a quick meal, that's out. Pizzafari is good!!

I can't wait for the trip!

AND... the Wizarding World of HP opens FRIDAY! Wooo!

Old Navy always has great deals going on. I signed up to hear about them in advance so I'll give you a heads up on the next one! :)

We have Rain Forest Cafe's around here and I'd rather do CS. I guess where will be a game time decision!

I know! I'm so excited to see WWoHP! My co-worker went on a fam there and of course she was able to see it all. She said the castle is huge and takes a long time to walk through. She wasn't blown away though but she's not a Harry Potter fan at all!

Day 3 - Epcot plus Food & Wine

Depending on how late we're out the night before for my birthday celebration :) will be the factor in when we get up. I figure everyone can just sleep in this day and we'll get to Epcot late morning/early afternoon. There's EMH this day so Future World is open until 10pm and World Showcase til midnight. Plenty of time!

Must Do:
Soarin - This will probably be one of the first things we head to because for whatever reason, this attraction runs out of FPs. I like Soarin, I do, but I do not get what the big deal is about this ride.
Test Track - This is tied with ToT for my favorite ride at WDW.
Spaceship Earth - last time I was here, I went on this ride oh about 10 times. The end cracks me up.
Imagination - everybody's gotta see Figment
The Seas w/Nemo & Friends - so cute!
Grand Fiesta Tour - I love Donald Duck
Maelstrom

Do If Time:
Honey I Shrunk The Audience - I know it's going to be Captain Eo this summer. If it still is by October, I definitely want to see it for nostalgiac purposes. If it's back to Honey...meh. I don't like having to stand through that Kodak advertisement to get in and the attraction itself is outdated. If everyone else wants to, then ok.
Mission Space - I'm sure people are going to want to do this. I'm not a fan. This is the one ride (other than the Hulk at IOA) that makes me feel completely thrown off. Again, I'll do it if other people want to.
Universe of Energy
Kimpossible - never tried this but would love to! It sounds cool.

No dining plans for this day. Probably just eating around the world considering how many carts there are for Food & Wine. Definitely need to make a stop at Japan for some sushi and Poland for a perogie and kabasa. Yum! Also another stop in Japan for kaki gori, best treat ever! If the F&W carts aren't filling everyone's tummys, then maybe a trip to Sunshine Seasons can be arranged!

Illuminations...up in the air. I'm not a huge fan but once again, if anybody in my group seems interested, we'll see it.

3 months and 19 days to go! I'm almost at my double digit mark!

Whew! I'm finally caught back up again!

sorry for the absence but my goodness, you've been having a fun time!!! :woohoo:

You should definitely do a Kim Possible mission in between snacking! It's so much fun! (Ok, a little cheesy, but it was neat!)

I have! This summer has been great so far and it's only just begun. I have more fun stuff coming up too :) Keeps me occupied while waiting for this trip! :thumbsup2

I definitely want to try it. I've read so many TRs of it. And I know it takes you inside the WS pavilions, some of which I usually just skip over!

Just wanted to share that I just purchased my tickets for Toy Story 3! Midnight showing tomorrow night! I'm so excited! :)

Girl you better do Kim Possible! It's so much fun!! We thought China and England were the best, if you get a chance to request them!

Your plans look great-- I know what you mean about Soarin. Not my fave. I can pass on everything you listed under the "maybe" section.. We rode Ellen's last time we were at EPCOT but only to take a break. It was air conditioned and we needed a quick nap . I too can pass on Illuminations. Not a big firework gal.

Your trip is getting closer than you think!!!

And PLEASE let us know how TS3 is!! DH and I want to go see it but not sure if we want to spend the $$$. He's a big TS fan, me not so much. Regardless, have fun!!
