Spending Christmas at Disney

We spent our first christmas at the world in 2006. (Dec 19-26) It was great! Being from Wisconsin having 70-80 degree temps was something a little out of this world. I would do it again if we get the opportunity. Santa came a couple days early. (the kids wrote a letter to him to ask if he could come early.) We brought a table top tree down and a string of christmas lights and decorated the room....

We went to DTD and Magic Kingdom on Christmas day. DTD during the day and after supper MK. It was great! MK was open until 3am the next morning and the crowds were nil. We stayed until 11:30 that night (my kids were 7 and 11).

Flights from Milwaukee to Orlando were $200 round trip and NO DELAYS!!!!
This is way cheaper than what I am seeing for March of 2008 right now... Currently $300 each......

Good Luck planning!!!

ONE SUGGESTION THOUGH--- If you plan to eat at any table service restaurants, make ADR's ahead. We did and never had a problem or wait to eat, but I ran into so many people who didn't plan ahead and couldn't get ressies.

is Christmas. It is special because it is the first time my kids went to Disney , so many years ago now. They were 5 and 2. One trip we put a couple of presents out in the room, another time, while they were young we had Christmas the day before we left on our trip. We are going for Christmas this year, they are now 20 and 17, so we will have Christmas when we get home, with my parents. Its a great time to be in Disney. We are spending Christmas Day at the resort, going to all the hotels and seeing the decorations, no parks that day. If I remember correctly, the parks got busy the day after Christmas thru New Years. We spent New Year's Eve in MK during one of our trips.

havent been at xmas, but could you not let SANTA know when you write to him to let him know how good you have been all year that you and your family will be at disney.....

I've enjoyed reading everyone's trip stories......but I'm still afraid of traveling at that time of year....I always see thouands of people stranded at the airport....I'd be afraid we wouldn't get there.

We drive...........cuts out the possibilities of delayed flights!!! :drive:

We were delayed in Atlanta not due to weather but due to the fact that our flight crew had to take a break they had put in too many consecutive hours.

We were also delayed in Atlanta - actually we ended up sleeping in the aiport because the whole airport was messed up becaus eof a security breech/bomb scare. We missed the last flight to Boston Logon by 5 minutes... did i mention i was 5 months pregnant?? A horrible experinece... We will fly non-stop from then on whenever possible... just had to share!!

We are surprising the kids with a trip for Christmas. We are going to tell them the day before we leave. I am going to let them write a letter to Santa before we leave to let him know that we will not be home for Christmas but could he please leave their presents and that next year we will leave him extra cookies and milk.

We are also suprising our kids. THey are older now so they know about Santa they are girls 11 and son 14. They are going to get the surprise on Christmas Day. It will be their main present. I am not sure how to surprise them but was thinking of a clue trail or something cute. All disney stuff or something then the last present say " Get in the car, we are leaving for Disney". I hope I can hold out that long. THis will be our first trip during this time of year. We are leaving Christmas day and staying thru New Years.

Oh my gosh. We are so very excited! Cannot imagine Disney on Christmas day. Our Delta flight keeps changing. It is freaking me out as we are suppose to arrive at noon and hit Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on that day (Dec 18th). I think I am worse then the kids....

Never ever thought I'd wish away summer!

We haven't been to WDW at Christmas, but we're rarely home at that time. My family all live in a different state & we usually spend Christmas with them. When my parents were alive, my DS always made sure to remind Santa that he would be at Shanny & Papaws on Christmas morning. Being the smart guy that he is, Santa always remembered. ;) Now he brings the gift to whomevers home our DS happens to be at. We have always opened our stockings & gifts from us the night before we leave for NC. I save a couple from us for him to open Christmas morning, along with what Santa brings. I try to take things that he can use on the ride home for entertainment, & things that can be easily hidden in luggage.

I'm enjoying reading everyone's plans. I've always wanted to go to WDW the week after Christmas to prolong the festivities, but the crowd reports have always scared us away. Hopefully, some day.

For those inquiring about a tree, you can order one for you room from Disney Florist. They are kind of expensive from them. Some people bring a small one in their luggage, or ship it to their resort ahead of time. From what I've read, decorating rooms is pretty common that time of year.

We spent our first Christmas at WDW in December 2005 and loved it! My girls were 11 and 15 at the time. We took a few presents with us to open on Christmas day and Santa left the rest at our house so they would have something when they got home. We did not go to the parks on Christmas day. We had a late breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and then spent the rest of the day at the resort. We actually went for my birthday, which is on Dec. 23rd. It did feel a little strange not being at home on Christmas, but I would love to do it again. It kept us from having to run up and down the road between families.

We went during x-mas and its one of the most memorable trips/moments of my life. It was going to be the 1st time I had never spent x-mas with my Grandpa and it was x-mas eve and he showed up at the resort and it was awesome. We also set up my mom for my dad to propose to her and she was speechless. Alot of magic occurs during x-mas in WDW and I would do it again if possible but not everything is possible.
