Spend one night at AKL?

Was looking at airfare for our trip and it would be $200 cheaper for us to leave the day before our planned trip. I called up and couldn't get a room at CSR so I was thinking of spending the night at AKL Savannah View since we don't plan on going to the parks and thought it would be nice to enjoy the room for a day. Does anyone have opinions of the buildings and their views? It looked like a studio at Kidani Village was around the same price as a Savannah View in a regular room.

And does anyone have experience with luggage transfer to a different resort?

I have never stayed at AKL but I love your idea! One night to enjoy the savannah view would be so lovely to wake up to, then move on to your next resort. I know the bell services are used to transferring luggage, just be aware that you may have to wait a while for your luggage to show up. If you are worried about waiting you could take a cab with all your luggage and check in yourself. Even if your room's not ready they can hold it at the hotel and deliver it when it is ready (or you can get it).

The plan was to the head over to the parks and go back to the second hotel when we're done. Wondering if maybe we check-in online we won't have issues with coming in the evening. My mother will be coming in that day too at CSR, just in a different room.

Why not? We stayed at AKL lodge once in a Savannah room of the main building, and it was great sitting on the balcony in the morning watching the animals. Even if you don't get a Savannah room, there are plenty of places to walk around and see different animals. Also two good restaurants Boma and Jiko.

Just booked our Savannah room with a dinner at Jiko! Thanks for your input guys! It's the first time we'd be staying at two different hotels so it'll be a fun new experience for us!
