"You SPELT that wrong"

You did not "spelt" anything! You SPELLED it wrong!!! AHHHH! People sound so silly when they correct someone by saying "spelt"!

PS- You also did not "dreampt" about...you dreamed about...

Thank you very much.

That is my English lesson for the day :teacher:

Have a nice day :wave2:

your and you're are two different words. They can't be used interchangably. Your is a pronoun, you're is a CONTRACTION!!!

There house is over there.

I hate seeing that.

May I add: "go to somewhere" has one o, while "and also" is spelled with two o's, too...

Where and were mean two different things...

Please make your subjects and verbs agree: they were going to shop, not they was going to shop...

sorry, like Ash, I must vent... :)

where, were, and we're are three different words which mean three different thigns.
where-a place

were- past tense of are

we're-contraction of words we and are.

that one drives me nuts.

Can I add that you should never say "off of"?

their there they're
your you're
where were we're

Under the condition thing in the front of one of my books, a previous student wrote "ript"
I was so disgusted i whited it out. I was embarassed for the person.
That was 6th grade.

I love this post.

All too well...................

(did I use the correct "too"? LOL! Now I am really losing my mind!)

I think I'll add a lesson in grammar:
You don't play good. You play well.

That drives me crazy.

I feel your pain about grammar mistakes!! However, I believe you are mistaken about spelt and dreamt.

M-W.com (Merriam-Webster online) says this about "spelt":
"Main Entry: spelt
Pronunciation: 'spelt
chiefly British past and past participle of SPELL"
That one I haven't heard often, except occasionally from British people, and since they are the ones who started the language...well :rolleyes1

And I use "dreamt" pretty often. M-W says,
"Main Entry: dream
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): dreamed /'drem(p)t, 'drEmd/; or dreamt /'drem(p)t/; dream·ing /'drE-mi[ng]/" (ahem, note the bolded word :goodvibes )

"Acrosst", however, is not a word, and something that drives me nuts! :earseek: :rotfl:

Well then everyone...I am DEF a big one for admitting when you are wrong...
When you're right...you're right...when you're wrong...you're wrong.

And Ellindea just proved me wrong!

So sorry guys!

well your way was correct too, and probably more standard, but not the only way.
