Do you have any words you "say" (in your head at the time, not when speaking ) differently than they are pronounced to aid you in spelling them correctly?

I do. A few I can think of at the moment:

1. Connecticut
2. Wednesday
3. separate
4. principal


You? And/Or do you have any other kinds of spelling "helps" that you utilize?

I'll never forget the one my 5th grade teacher taught me.

To spell lieutenant, picture an ant with a ten on his back. What would you say if you wanted him to go to bed? "Lie-u-ten-ant"
