So I just have to ask..........Any guesses out there (or insider info.) as to what the incentives will be after the current promotion ends Mar. 28???

I am wondering this as well. The cruise for 4 did not interest me at all...not much of an incentive.:(

im totally with you guys. i think the $112 price for animal kingdom, bay lake, and saratoga is expensive and the $6 per point discount for AK and $5 per point discount for bay lake doesnt help much. Its hard to justify too since i bought saratoga last year at $95 a point with a $10 per point discount.

Im surprised since the recenssion is driving real estate prices down, its not being seen by the vacation club, although i guess timeshares are more of a luxury.

Yep. And I would think that for those who can afford an add on right now -they will not without a great incentive in this economic climate. Some car dealers are offering 0% financing, interest rates are low, retail sales are huge. I'll spend my $ elsewhere (or SAVE) before I add on to our DVC with no incentives!

And yes, SANBORNANGEL, I agree about the current cruise incentive....it's pretty stinky for families of 5 and the limited sailing options. I've been all over the place expressing my opinions there!

Do they always offer incentives? The reason I ask is because I heard from two separate DVC guides that people are joining DVC in droves (and, when we took our tour at 8:00 a.m. on a Sunday, three people joined at the same time DH and I did). That news surprised me a bit because of the economy but, honestly, when you think about the cost savings of DVC and the opening of BLT it makes sense that people are finally pulling the trigger when they would have waited before.

I personally loved the cruise incentive, but will be curious to see what the new incentives are since we can opt to change our incentives since we haven't officially closed yet (although the papers are all signed).

I would really, really, really like to see incentives on add-ons smaller than 100 pts.

With the 160 point minimum buy-in until recently, a 100 point add-on might be overkill for lots of people (like us), but we could certainly be enticed to add-on 30-60 points.

My guess is that you will see more incentives relating to the DCL as sales are down and with the ecomomic state being what it is, this is not at all suprising. DVC members are a nice niche and target market for the DCL anyway so why not get them hooked on the DCL as well as wdw if possible. And with Universal and Caribbean Cruise Line having just announced last week a partnership to offer Land/Sea packages out of Cape Canaveral it makes even more sense to push the DCL more to its captive target audience.

This is just my guess but I think the DCL incentives will continue to be offered and possibly enhanced.

I'd also like to see cruise incentives for larger families. Or something other than developer points that larger families can use.

Despite the economy, higher prices and a robust resale market, DVC sales remain quite strong. So I wouldn't count on necessarily seeing any deep discounting.

Given that AKV and BLT will both be completely open later this year, DVC should have a lot of Developer's Points to play with. Seems like they will be selling those locations for at least 2-3 more years. That means a lot of unsold points to use for incentives.

Maybe they'll go with double Developer's Points, or something like that. Haven't done an AP discount for some time now so that's a possibility.

Still, the Developer's Points seem to be DVC's best asset. When they give away AP vouchers, there is some cash-equivalent outlay involved to purchase the vouchers. When they give bigger discounts on per-point pricing, they lose some cash inflow. With DPs, they already have the asset on hand and don't have to worry about trying to book the points thru CRO, RCI or some other avenue.

Oh, and someone made a comment about a Disney Visa promotion (like the $500 gift card offered last year), so that could be another possibility.

I talked to my guide yesterday about the incentives.. my friends are looking into joining but the cruise isnt for them either! I know how they feel, cause we would like some blt aswell but not a cruise.. my guide had told me that they wouldnt know what the incentive is until the 28th comes around.. I was telling her that if there was a DISNEY incentive my friends would have joined in a heart be and we would add on too.. I told her that it would be nice if they would offer choices....Cruises for people that would want to go on the cruise, ap for people that want disney world incentive!! but the ap would have to add up to what the value of what that cruise is valued at.. ($6,000) that would be a whole mess of ap for the family!!! which would be nice.. So I guess we will have to see what the incentive is come the 28th!

My guess is that the incentives will be better depending on the actual resort. Look for BLT and CGV to have the worst incentives right away.

Something along the lines of matching down payment on SSR for 100 point contracts (up to 25% down) and a 50% match on down payments on AKL.

SSR $112 per point. $11,200 = $2800 down and a $2800 =would still be $82 per point! Still more expensive then a resale.

AKL would then be $96 per point!

(these prices would make them at least closer to resale prices)

Also, something like 1.9% interest for preferred and 6.9% for standard financing! Now that would interest me!

Personally, I would be happy with developer pts. to use at Disney, ap's , or even a cruise that worked for our family of 5 without crummy season "options". We bought DVC b/c we love Disney. RCI is NOT an incentive to us.

I would hope that even after Mar. 28, DVD would still give the per pt. credit that is available now. How could they not?

The fact that some who have posted and purchased recently on the Dis have said they have the option for the current incentive or the "next" one, says to me there will be another incentive right after Mar. 28. :confused3

There will definitely be an incentive after March 28th. It's been years since DVC was absent any form of incentive / discount.

The low interest rate is a good idea. Bravo!

Developer points will go away and DCL deals will continue. BLT is about 30% sold as of this date so DVD can be less generous with the incentives.

I know some folks liked the DCL incentive. Although I'd be very curious to find out how many disliked it (like us). Where's the value in going during hurricane season or Jan./Feb.?...not to mention the upgrade cost for families of 5. We're actually paying for a "free" incentive.

I'm not asking for steep price discounts, just better incentives. I bought Disney for Disney. This RCI push is annoying to me as well.

Personally, we'd add on now for the right incentives. Otherwise, we can wait for sure....even if it means BLT resale (there will be plenty) down the road.

Good to know there's ALWAYS incentives though!

I hope for everyone else's sake it is not an RCI week. That was part of our incentive and the exchange options are very, very limited. We may not even use it. (For anyone who hasn't exchanged before--this is not the norm--just the way it is for these incentive certificates.)

I want to say that our family of five loved the cruise incentive. For a seven night cruise we paid only $931. The Cat4 cabins are normally pretty expensive! So, totally worth it, I think.

I can't wait to see what the new incentives are though.

I'd love to buy some VGC points too!

Personally, I loved the idea of a cruise incentive...it got us to seriously consider a 100-pt. add on at BLT and prompted me to call our guide. We take a family cruise once a year, usually over fall break which happens to be in hurricane season...that doesn't bother us.

What did bother me was the lack of flexibility on this incentive. The dates for the 3-night cruise didn't work for us, and they wouldn't allow us to upgrade or pay the difference for the 4-night or 7-night cruise. (We don't want to add on more than 100 pts.)

We are a family of 4, so that aspect wasn't an issue for us, but I know it was for a lot of families.

If they offered a 4-night cruise for a 100-pt. add on, or if they allowed upgrades on the cruise length, we would definitely be buying 100 points at BLT.

not an owner yet, but this is what would get me to buy direct from Disney :rotfl:
AP's for my family (one time, to get us to use our points right away, are you reading this Disney? LOL)
and a Cruise incentive.
and 100 DP's would be good too for a quick bonus trip

I am dreaming i know - but that would get me 2 trips in my first year of ownership :wizard:
