Speculation re: cost per point at the alledged CRV

What will be the cost per pointat the (alledged) CRV?

  • under $100

  • $101-105

  • $106-110

  • $111-119

  • over $120

  • don't know, don't care

If this does materialize, what do you suppose Disney will price it at? My uneducated guess is that this will happen before SSR sells out, and the cost will be much greater. I am guessing maybe $105-110/pp. Those who value a monorail resort would jump on the CRV, while those searching for more of a bargain but still want onsite Disney would go for SSR at the lower cost. What do you think?

Of course, a lot of it depends on when (or if) it actually materializes. There is supposedly an increase in the works for March that would finally go over the $100 per point mark. If they end up not announcing a new property for another six months or so...I think they would be at least $110 per point.

I have to shake my head in wonder at all the people that post over and over again that they would pay any amount per point for a monorail resort. I know the main idea is to get the attention of DVC and let them know owners are ready and willing to buy add-ons for villas at CR or Poly...but do we really want to send the message that a huge price-per-point increase is acceptable?

I believe that the cost per point for points at the CR will be exactly the same as points at SSR.

The difference will be that the number of points per night for a room at CR is going to be much much higher than SSR and will easily be the highest of any DVC resort. So you could buy 200 points at SSR or CR at they will cost the same, but you would get a lot more nights at SSR than you would at CR.

If there is any difference in price it will be that the two resorts are priced the same, but they then give an extra incentive to SSR points, though my guess is that it would be a maximum of $10 per point.

I agree that the price/point will be in line with SSR's list price, maybe a few dollars more, but the points/night for stays there will be higher than most other DVC resorts.

I expect that the price/point will depend on the timing. If it is possible to buy CRV points within the next 9 months, they will probably be $101/point. Add $3/point for every additional 9-12 month wait for the points to become available. It wouldn't make sense to try to charge more than that because otherwise those who purchase those very expensive points would be at a disadvantage when using their points to stay at other DVC resorts.

Sorry if my post was misleading, I didn't mean I thought there would be a separate pricing structure for CRV (or any other monorail resort)...I just feel it would cause a large increase in the price per point overall once they have almost sold out SSR and announced an offering @ a new property (like CRV).

I just find it aggravating that so many DVC owners feel Disney can charge anything they want, as they (the owners) are so willing to stand there with their wallets open. The Disney Member Cruise is a great example -- the sail date is during hurricane season, the spa will be closed for remodeling, and the itinerary has been changed to spend more time at Disney-owned property (less cost)...all at a higher fare than if you were sailing during peak season. Yet it was sold-out almost immediately. I just don't get it. :confused3

(Please don't anyone be offended by my post as it honestly wasn't intended that way as I know the cruise will be a wonderful experience for those that are going...I guess I just wish I didn't feel like we are sometimes taken advantage of with our love of Disney!)

I don't think they will announce any time soon. They have a LOT of SSR to sell and I can't see them taking that hit. Of course if they thing they can sell something like a CR, they could just stop development at SSR after the current in progress buildings.

I figuire at least one more price increase. So if it does go to $101 next month figure more then that.

It is all a matter of supply and demand. Disney knows that there are a lot of people who love what they have to offer. I wouldn't necessarily say that they are taking advantage of the masses as long as the masses are willing to pay for it. When other resorts sold for $70, I bet a lot of people thought they were being gouged. Again at $80, and then at $90. Looking back these individuals can now say what a great deal they got. It is obvious that prices will continue to rise, but by how much is anybody's guess. My guess just happens to be around the $110 mark for the initial offering of CRV, assuming it happens. Just my .02.

I'd be a bit more concerned with what the annual MF would be for a CRV. I can just imagine what even a small portion of the monorail expenses would amount to....

And wouldn't Disney just love shifting that portion to willing members? Thus one of the reasons that the CRV (or VCR) will be built.
