Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

So while I am making my special treat for our 10 day countdown…I wanted to share my crafty items I have made for this trip for myself and my travel companions:

Our DOOR Sign:

100_8857.jpg

I used parts of Jess’s shirt design and a cool AKV DISign by RustManFan and some fun little ballons w/ our Dis names on them. Here is a closer look at the balloons:

100_8858.jpg

100_8861.jpg

100_8860.jpg

Now Kathy and Amy…I just used your first intital on these, figured you didn’t want your name on our door…and Anne Marie and Heidi…sorry I didn’t have matching colors for all the balloons.

Next, last night I realized I didn’t make a journal for this trip…so I decided to make just a small one:

100_8854.jpg

100_8855.jpg

100_8856.jpg

I used Natalie’s journal pages that I edited in my own journal prompts and the cover is also one of her DISigns.

Ladies…would any of you like one too? Be happy to make and bring to you! The pages include a “we are on our way” page, pages for days 1-4, “last day adventures page”, and food pages for each park.

Our fun little towel clothespins:

100_8853.jpg

Here is a picture of me working on them one night that my DD Naomi-Ruth took:

100_8821.jpg

This idea came to be back in our initial email planning when talking about beds and bathrooms. Each of get’s two clothes pins to clip on our towels so we can keep them straight. (Heidi I wasn’t sure what color to use for you…so I opted w/ black/grey…hope that is OK)

Lastly, the items I started on first. Our Dis-tags….I wanted us to each have matching tags, but something fun that stayed in our color theme and could be a cute keepsake for each lady after the trip (or to use again)…I also wanted it to be a little be cooler than the typical LGMH….so w/ my Cricut I first created the name tag and then using an Disney Autism DISign to put it all together. Now they are NOT done yet….I need to laminate the little Mickey Autism heads and then attach them to the name tag and add a ribbon for each lady to tie on their park bag. (they will hang vertical...not horizontal BTW)

But I wanted to give you a preview:

Hope you like them so far….

I can't believe how close the trip is! I am looking forward to hearing all about it!

Hi Margaret! I can't believe it either really.... the time has absolutely flown by!

Julie, I can't wait to see all your crafty pictures from home - darn work blocking it! :headache:

I have a fun "Disney tinged" event planned for myself and the kiddies later tonite. I have to do an interesting balancing act with this 10 day mark celebration. Ariana has been asking to go to the airport lately (this translates to hopping on a plane to Disney, Mom... let's go!) so I don't want to remind her too much of the celebrations we were counting down to for our family trip or she'll start bombarding us with airport requests numerous times a day. That combined with my absence for four days and she'd be one unhappy girl. I have a plan though and I think we'll be OK! :thumbsup2

Oh and the sickness I've been steadfastly avoiding has caught up to me. My throat is irritated and I've already lost my voice. I'm trying everything to not have it develop into a full fledged cold - gargling with warm water with salt REALLY helps, and cold medicine too. :wizard:

Awesome! I always get lost in hotels so this will actually be helpful for me :rotfl2:

You do realize that I will be stealing my balloon on Sunday to put in my album of the trip right?

I want one too please! Could I trouble you for extra Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom pages for my first day?

The color is fine, I actually really like black and grey

I have no words for how totally cute and awesome all of this is. WOW!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Those are so GREAT!!! Thanks for making those for all of us. I would also really love a journal please, then if you don't mind I can take the idea/design and make my own for March- the kids will get a kick out of them. I've been gathering coloring pictures for them too.

I've made my food item but not ready to post the picture yet.

Awww thanks Jess too kind....yes I would love to make one....print the pages right now :goodvibes

and Heidi...almost forgot your comment about the door sign will help you not get lost....the BLT signs for our Nov. trip did the same thing for my family too

I have recently been preparing the boys for me to be away. Jack realized this past weekend that I was really going to be gone for awhile. He knew I had gotten my suitcase out, but it really hit home with him learning about the calendar. They do calendar in school everyday and we are trying to help him depend on the teacher and his classmates less when it is his turn. So he got a magnetic calendar for Christmas and he saw the 20th was vacation. He got excited, until I told him I was going alone. :scared1:After some screaming and a minor meltdown he was able to sit with me and talk about it. He said he was really going to miss me, but was able to relax with the promise of a new experiment or Lilo to go with the Stitch he got for Christmas.

Today we had a snow day, so we were all home and the boys helped me with my 10 day food item. It is a completely gfcf cake and also dye free.

My two year old helped me mix up the cake and we used a gingerbread man cookie/cake mold (Jack so badly wanted a gingerbread man for Christmas but we couldn't ever find a recipe to make one gfcf).

Next I drew some mouse ears and a number 10 on wax paper, and melted some special chocolate
167197_1503611562796_1609454570_1116333_5692840_n.jpg

We also used some special sprinkles and an organic fruit roll thing, and here is what we came up with:

After it was ready Jack was excited to eat it but said "Mommy I'm really going to miss you on the 10 day." (meaning in 10 days):(

I just checked in to see how close you were to D Day. Can I just tell you that those crafts are fantastic! How I wish I was talented in a crafty sort of way. Very, very nice!

Awwwww..... I know that probably made you a little sad but the positive in it is (1) he can understand what it means that you will be away and (2) it serves as a teachable moment for sometime in the future if you have to go away un-expectantly you'll be able use this trip as an example of how Mommy comes back home and everyone is OK.

I can only hope that Liam would be able to understand and verbalize like Jack when he is his age. :goodvibes

I have been so entertained today reading about all of you wonderful women and your incredible trip! I am living vicariously through you :rotfl:, an opportunity to get away with women who can understand some of what you are going through :dance3:...and you are all so talented and creative! Looking forward to reading more! I am so happy for you all! :yay:

Julie I love everything! Yes please! I'd love a journal too!

Good points! George and the kids will be showing Ariana on the calendar when I'm back too. She'll ask for me several times a day and it will help for her to see the day I'm back.

I agree completely....The very first time I was away overnight was when the twins were 2 and poor Nathan was sick...I felt horrible being away...but when I returned, seeing his face was all that much sweeter :goodvibes

I can only hope that Liam would be able to understand and verbalize like Jack when he is his age. :goodvibes

10 days till we are back at Disney :woohoo:

10 DAYS!! I can hardly believe it!! I cannot tell you the complete uphoria that came over me today as I was walking into work in the freezing cold when I realized we're going to Disney NEXT week!! :goodvibes

Well, our celebration was somewhat thrown together. I didn't have as much time this afternoon as I would have liked so my Mickey cake is, let's say, unique. ;) as you can see
DSC03933.jpg

DD9 actually helped a lot and it was her idea to use cupcakes for the ears.

While my kids know about the trip they are getting jealous but were good sports today for the 10 day party. Here they are waiting for dinner (broke out all the Disney dishes and glasses):
DSC03932.jpg

I'll be back in a bit to comment on all the other activities of they day. DD13 is impatiently waiting for my laptop to work on her science fair project.

Comments in a few minutes but I wanted to share what I came up with today for our 10 day celebration.

First of all, on our way to an appointment after school I casually brought up my trip to with boys. Zach knew I was going with some other moms to work on a book about Disney but Alex didn't really know about it... it just hadn't come up. I asked Zach if he remembered the trip I had told him about. He said yes then I went on to tell them that it's not this weekend coming up, but the next weekend. Alex chimed in wanting to know the dates (he's big on details ;)). They both seemed totally OK about it! :thumbsup2 Of course, the location didn't come up! :rolleyes1 Luckily they didn't ask because it would have been hard to lie to them. Zach knows the book is about Disney so he might be assuming that's where I'm going. :confused3

So how did we celebrate? After the boys had dinner (Tim & I ate later) I made them each a special ice cream treat:

100_3131.jpg

When I took this picture, Zach said, "Am I going to be in the book?" ;)

100_3133.jpg

Zach loves Breyer's Vanilla Bean & Alex is a chocolate boy! Actually after brushing his teeth tonight, I told him we had to get the Mickey Mouse off his face & he replied, "He's not even in this state!" and I said, "Well what's that on your face?" He giggled and said, "Mickey Mouse!" :goodvibes

The desserts didn't quite look like the pictures I've seen in various PTR/TRs but the boys loved them!! I'm going to go make myself one with coffee ice cream! :cloud9:

We also used some special sprinkles and an organic fruit roll thing, and here is what we came up with:
168497_1503611882804_1609454570_1116336_3303939_n.jpg
168854_1503611322790_1609454570_1116332_4750469_n.jpg

After it was ready Jack was excited to eat it but said "Mommy I'm really going to miss you on the 10 day." (meaning in 10 days):(

Cute cake!! And Jack's comment about "on 10 day" is adorable. I bet it melted your heart. :lovestruc

Single digits tomorrow! I can't believe it!! I love seeing everyone's take on on our 20 & 10 day celebrations!

Awwwww..... I know that probably made you a little sad but the positive in it is (1) he can understand what it means that you will be away and (2) it serves as a teachable moment for sometime in the future if you have to go away un-expectantly you'll be able use this trip as an example of how Mommy comes back home and everyone is OK.

I completely agree... It will get easier too! Zach has always been more attached than Alex but there was a period of time that Zach suffered from severe separation anxiety! It's amazing to be able to tell him I'm leaving for several days and not have him shed a tear! At least so far...

I have been so entertained today reading about all of you wonderful women and your incredible trip!
