Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

Wow I have missed alot of chatter lately!

Trip: I'm gathering all the info to make our DME arrangements. I'm sure the luggage tags will go to our individual addresses, but will there be only one booklet?? :confused3 I've never traveled in a group like this before. I'm sure they'll tell me when I call...

Anybody have any experience with this?

Kathy

Ok here is my only 2 cents to add....when we just traveled w/ my inlaws we had seperate ressies at POP so we each recieved a DME book for our arrival but I had only ONE book for the departure...

Now when we arrived they scanned the book right away w/out us having to go through the other line. On the way hm I forgot to give the MP's their pages from my book (but obviously they made it hm) when we left...the DME guy was asking for the book and took the pages out.

My suspiscion is those of us not meeting up at the airport and if you only have 1 booklet w/ all our name may have to go up to the "check-in" desk at the DME counter in the airport :confused3

1 month and 1 day, I can't believe it:scared1: I still have soooo much to do. Lets see those packing lists girls, I'm trying to figure out how to pack for 4 days and only take a small carry on bag. :) It's been so long since I've traveled via air, I'm welcome to any tips anyone has for all aspects of dealing with going to the airport, being in the airport and actually flying (which terrifies me btw:confused3)

I will get a packing list for you ASAP...since I actually started packing

flying....here are a few tips/tricks and I'm no expert (I'm secretly glad to have a flight partner in Anne Marie)

* use curb side check-in if your airport has it (have tip ready)

*pack gum, book or other non electronic thing for take-offs and landings

* know what to expect at your security points it makes going through so much easier

*if you feel nervous arrive extra early so you don't have any sense of rushing.

I started the expense spreadsheet and worked up the cost per person for 1900 Park Fare, as soon as Amy confirms my numbers you will all be getting an email from me.

thanks for doing this Heidi!

Gold Star to Amy for calling out way in advance that Disney would extend park hours at DHS and add a F! showing the night we would be there.

New hours for DHS on Thursday 1/20 are 9am to 8pm ---- F! showing at 630pm and 8pm.

Oh and it gets better ladies!

They changed our MK night!! New park hours are 9am to 11pm (instead of 10pm) and added a MSEP at 9pm!!!! Now we don't have to rush out of dinner if we see the 2nd parade at 9pm.....sound like a good plan??????

Between this news and the rice krispie treats I made, this is turning out to be a great weekend!!!!!

Oh man this is really good...never even occurred to me to check park hours again...glad I have my multiple Disney minds working on that for me. Very fun I love the extra time :woohoo:

did I say what I was thinking earlier on the PTR?

hmmm forget...my gut is saying breakfast in the villa make sure I say my "good-byes" to all in case we don't all match/meet up later in the day. I'd like to be w/ a few of you ladies vs straight solo :)

MK is my instinct choice of where I would like to spend my final hours in the World. DTD or another park are options too, but leaning more toward parks and thrills since I don't get to do those so easily going w/ DH or the kids....

I would guess I have a pretty good feel of where and waht by the end of Saturday.

J~

I actually have thought about Sunday and have some ideas jotted down but I'm trying really hard not to make plans before that Saturday night! lol

Here are my "thoughts" for what I might do:

"Big" breakfast at Boma or GF Cafe, or somewhere else that I haven't thought of yet. (I had really wanted to go to 'Ohana for breakfast but it's a lot of money and I figured no one would want to go with me)

Lunch at a park CS or just a snack

Dinner at the Airport at Chili's or Macaroni Grill (I did this on my last solo trip and it worked out great for me, kills some of that long wait for your flight)

I really thinking that I'll park hop. Magic Kingdom and/ or Epcot (mostly for Innventions), maybe hop to AK because it's so close to the resort which would give me more park time, I doubt I'd go to DHS but we're not going there in March so I could change my mind after I get a taste of it again Thursday night.

Just like Amy, I can't see myself going to DTD because I have time planned there in March and this really isn't the trip for me to be spending lots of money on shopping....I usually hit it pretty hard so I don't need the
temptation! lol

Jessica did you give any thought to going to the Rainforest Cafe at AK?? Buses are horrible to/from DTD on the weekend.....don't want you missing your ME pick-up.

In regards to the airports....find really good maps of them and study them! I have a great map of MCO , let me know if you want a copy/link

Thanks, I've been going back over the weather report for that weekend, and trying to figure out how to fit my clothes in a carry-on since I am hoping to not check my bags. Thought that can pose a problem on the flip side when I return home.

And yes, def. want to say the good-byes in case we don't catch up, hadn't thought about that we might not see eachother before actually heading home to our own realities. Thrill rides:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I love your airport plans, I use to travel a lot before I got married and had kids, but since a trip we took with Jack when he was 2, we have not flown again, we always op to drive on any trip.

Yes I originally had thought of AK, but guess I had the transportation backwards, thinking DTD would be an easy departure. I'm the newbie having only made one prior trip to the World and that was almost 7 years ago :rolleyes1:sad2::scared1: So thanks for that tip, I might go back to my original plan then, which could allow for me to sneak into AK and ride a thrill ride before heading home ;) or just avoid it all together and save it for our March trip, but my family is soo super picky.

My thought on Sunday is to definitely spend it in a park or two! I'm going to be avoiding DTD since I just got to spend a bunch of time there this fall & I'll be trying to keep my souvenir spending under control with our family trip only a month later.

As far as which park or parks to visit Sunday... I probably won't decide until I get there. I may want more DHS time, there's always tons to do at Epcot & MK is a great way to end a trip. :confused3 I'm guessing I won't be back at AK just because there's not too much else I would want to do there & my family loves to visit that park several times when we're there.

Amy reminded me of something that has me also now thinking of making a mad dash to DHS for park opening and riding TSM before heading to Epcot, I have a month to figure it out:lmao:

Woo hoo for more park time!!

I'll probably make a last minute decision about my last day too, but right now I'm leaning towards MK. I may choose a ride or two but will likely wander Main Street and the shops and of course take a million and four pictures.

My other thought, being the proud new owner of an Annual Pass  is to park hop. I've never done it before and I think it would be fun on my last day.

Today is the 20th... you know what that means?
Next time it's the 20th we'll be at Walt Disney World!!!

:rolleyes1

so when I got back from my Vegas weekend just a week ago Monday...I emptied the suitcase and began to fill it right back up again:

sending lots of hugs, prayers and pixiedust to our fellow traveling companion Anne Marie after a loss in their family
 :grouphug:  :littleangel: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Thanks for sharing your packing list Julie!! I added a few things to my list after reading yours. :thumbsup2 I'm just dying to get my suitcase out!!

You & your family are in my thoughts too Anne Marie! pixiedust:

I was looking at our plans for our evening in MK after dinner at 1900 Park Fare. They need to be tweaked. It's very likely that the 7pm parade will be in progress as we are getting into the park so I think its important that we decide which side of Main Street we should attempt to walk up (maybe thru the shops).
Left side brings us into Adventureland, right side Tomorrowland.

So my question to the Moms is: where do you like to view Wishes from????

If we pick a general spot to view Wishes ahead of time, then we can position ourselves in the right land when we first get there.

I'm not overly picky about my Wishes viewing BUT I need to have the front of the castle in my view. Imagine that the castle is the center of a clock and Main St is 6 o'clock. I like to be anywhere from 4 o'clock to half past 7 to 8 o'clock on the clock.

love the clock analogy :thumbsup2

very good points brought up Heidi...I can't quite remember what is in store for the MK night on Sat as far as goals of rides...but I do too like to see the castle front. Although I have seen wishes to the extreme side w/no view as well. I think I could say either side is fine, we won't get a right in front spot. We may be able to snag a spot if people leave the parade asessible viewing spots they rope off in the hub there. But if I choose a preference I want to be based on the clock....I had to draw myself a diagram

look at post below to see where I'd like to sit...

J~

Julie- you have to re-drew your diagram....lol Main street is 6 o'clock.....I mis-labeled it in my post above (corrected now)

good thing I did it in pencil...:rotfl2:

I thought that seemed odd...now it makes more sense...so back to the new clock:

6:00 is MS
12:00 is FL
3:00 is Tomorrowland
6:00 is Adventurland bridge

I'd like to sit somewhere between 4-6:00 :thumbsup2 still under :tink:

Ahhhh, I couldn't figure that out either. :rotfl2: I've seen Wishes from all around the clock and my favorite would have to be 6 o'clock. I'd have to agree with Julie and say between 4 and 6 o'clock would be my preference.

All the best to you and your family Anne Marie.

Thanks for the packing list Julie ( I'll be borrowing from it myself! ) and I'm a day late but I'm doing the "this time next month boogie"!!!

:hyper: :jumping1: :hyper: :jumping1: :hyper:

I've never seen Wishes from the front so anywhere between 3-9 would be great to me!! I've only watched from Fantasyland & Big Thunder Mountain.

Well you are going to be in for a treat then because it is so much better when you have the front of the castle in view because of where the fireworks are shot off from.

Sounds like Tomorrowland would be a good place to start that night and then work our way to Frontierland for the parade since all of the rides/attractions that we wanted to do that night are on the left side of the park.

Has anyone heard or "seen" Kathy anywhere??? Girl has gone missing again
