Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

I'm all caught up now. It is amazing to read about the support you are all giving each other. Makes me feel so :goodvibes:goodvibes

You are all so positive about your children and I love the way you choose to look on the bright side of things. All children are blessings and you are all wonderful mothers and your DH's are so wonderful to recognize that you deserve a break too!

Hi Nancy! :wave2: Thanks for stopping in to add your support. You're right, a big, big group hug goes out to the "Spectrum Dads for making this trip possible!" :grouphug:

I love your ticker... can't wait to read about your next Halloween Adventure! What will the costumes be this time?

Well said Jessica. The odd time someone will say to me, "How can you do it?" and of course the answer is, "How could I not?"

That is an odd comment but, surprisingly, I think we've all heard it at least once or twice! I think sometimes people get a bit flustered when they are trying to say something supportive... Like you, I try to take comments like that with an open mind and heart.

I really like the Chmolland piece. Going to print it out for the 4s teachers at my school who have a child in their class on the spectrum. Jessica. your story was very touching-more tissues needed over here.

Thanks, Mary! I hope they find it inspiring. I really have to hand it to all the teachers out there who are doing their best to give "our kids" the special care and attention they need. :cheer2:

For the next little game we are going to have a Scavenger Hunt… sponsored by our DIS friends! :thumbsup2

You all get to submit your ideas for the seven items (one per mom) we are going to look for during our trip. We will be visiting all four parks so any little secret spot in any park is up for grabs... I suppose Animal Kingdom Lodge is game too!

Maybe you have a simple idea and would like to see a mom standing in front of your favorite attraction or maybe you want to put us to the test, give us a good challenge, make us search high & low for a hidden Disney gem.

Give us your best ideas and we’ll report back with a photo of the chosen mom with her item.

Part one of the challenge is to submit your ideas. We'll choose seven of them for our scavenger hunt. Part two will be another numbers game where you will get to match up each item with a mom without knowing who you are choosing!

Put on your thinking caps and give us your best suggestions! :scratchin We'll take suggestions for one week. :hourglass

thanks so far for the souvie picture idea from mom3sonstt

come on I know you guys can give us some more fun things .... popcorn::

I think it would be great to see a photo of all of the Spectrum Moms either in front of the Partners Statue at MK or the Walt Disney bust at DHS. He brought you all together so it would be great to get a picture of you with him :goodvibes.

Perfect, Tracy! :thumbsup2

Were you looking for easy ones or hard ones?

Tanya, the consensus is that we want to get some fun ideas but we don't want to spend an extraordinary amount of touring time hunting for them! ;)

Gotcha! :thumbsup2 I wasn't sure how to word my "mission" so I was kinda vague. It could actually be as easy as going to the AKL gift shop. If you choose to go for the specific "frog-hunt" it could be harder. I know they carry different ones at different gift shops so a frog may be more elusive :magnify:- but a wire and beaded animal in general will be a lot easier.

I am going to have some use for the Chmolland article as well. I now have a child on the spectrum in my 2s class. I used to work with autistic teenagers and adults in a residential treatment setting but 2/3 yrolds are new for me.

I would like to see how many spectrum Moms can fit in a teacup!!:rotfl2:

I hope it helps. :goodvibes

:rotfl: Must it be spinning?

Ok - since no one has taken the bait yet for the scavenger hunt - I have one. How about one of the Moms has her picture taken with on the the wire and bead animal sculptures. Or to make it a little harder - how about specifically with a frog - any size.

The reason behind this is that I wanted one - didn't get it when I saw it :sad2:, couldn't find it again once I decided I was going to get it :confused3....wound up getting a lizard instead :rolleyes1 But I would still like a frog :thumbsup2

I know which ones you are talking about! We have a little red wire & bead lizard from visit to the AKL gift shop after Boma last trip. :thumbsup2

Hey, Jessica!

Your boys are beautiful! And did anyone else catch the mention of giving birth to a ten-pound baby?! :worship:

I'm so happy that I'll be getting the chance to meet you soon... you sound like a great person and a wonderful Spectrum Mom! :grouphug:

Kathy

:scared1: Yes actually I did see that but I don't think I let it sink in because it scared me!

Since Danica was 9 lbs., a 10 pounder doesn't seem like a whole lot more :rotfl2:

Ouch! :headache:

Thanks Tracy!! I'll add it to the list!

Were you looking for easy ones or hard ones?

We're open to anything! We just don't want to spend all day hunting down one item. :thumbsup2

Wow - That's a big switch! But you can have such a big impact early on! :goodvibes

Tea cups! :faint:
Actually I can deal with spinning... but I know there are some of us who can't. :rolleyes1 But I'll add it to the list! ;)

What about the Spectrum Moms lined up in front of the Mickey and Minnie topiaries at Mk -- you know the ones with their hands stretched out?

OOOH I'm liking this scavenger idea...what fun could be had with this!!

I would like a picture of one of the moms (doesn't matter which ever one is the bravest LOL) asking for the autograph of one of the streetsmophere people at DHS!!!

oh boy....should we be nervous...can't wait to see what you guys come up with :teacher:

Jess thanks for your story, the boys look like their Daddy huh?

Welcomes all around to more new readers and thanks for joining us for this fun adventure!

Julie

Yeppers, they look more like their daddy :)

:goodvibes:goodvibes I am very much looking forward to this trip. I think I failed to mention it will be my first trip in 6 years without a husband or kids in tow

Kathy

Thank you, Yep, Jack was 10 lbs 5 ounces :scared1: Can you believe I wanted a natural birth :rolleyes1 I got induced early with Joey and he was still a whopping 9 lbs 7 ounces.

I'm very much looking forward to meeting you. The first spectrum mom I "met" was Tracy, and she told me I HAD to read your reports, and I'm so glad I did. :goodvibes

:lmao: We'll have more to chat about :rotfl2:

Everyone is coming up with some great ideas... it will be fun figuring out what we end up doing :) Keep them coming.

That's a good one, too, Jen! :thumbsup2

We'll hopefully be doing lots of group pictures, even though some of us (and you know who YOU are) are a bit camera-shy. :rolleyes1

For the photo scavenger hunt we were thinking of choosing seven individual "poses"... one challenge for each of us to complete.
