Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

Thanks, Amy, I love reading about the boys... especially all the strides they are making, both in school and at home.

I really should keep a box of tissues on this desk!! :sad1: (happy tears)

Kathy

Thank you for sharing your story! It is really wonderful to hear of how well both the boys are doing and how far they have come. :goodvibes

I'm very curious about this number game....

His mouth is what usually gets him into trouble. He tends to seek attention & can’t differentiate between positive & negative. He has to get the last word in ALWAYS… they call it Oppositional Defiant Disorder. He is like having a little teenager around all the time!

this is like Rebekah...I am thankful that during the time she was diagnosed w/ PDD-NOS (and Naomi-Ruth was in the hosiptal) you were there on the phone w/ me...a friend I truly needed at that moment to understand and help me see this was "OK"

I asked him if he was worried that he would cry on the first day of first grade. He replied with, “No, remember I’m strong now mom. Remember Mrs. K (his kindergarten teacher) said that at graduation?” I almost cried. He really is much stronger and much more aware of his needs, and able to express how he is feeling. And I'm so grateful for that.

that is wonderful....I love those moments too when Nathan can accept and understand that his Autism is not a defining word or something wrong...but something he can handle and he is so much more than just a word :goodvibes

It has to be magic because it’s unduplicated elsewhere! pixiedust:

you sound like the Genie :thumbsup2

At five years old, I'm still looking for signs in Demetri. I think a part of me always will.

you are not alone....I feel the same way especially w/ Naomi-Ruth she is very much like her brother in behaviors...there are strong differences of her age 3 1/2 and he at that age...but it is hard not to look at my younger girls w/out the my pesty "autism colored" glasses on....especially since both of the twins were diagnosed late in age. Nathan at just shy of 8 and Bekah 10 1/2

Social cues are so difficult to teach to Ariana. She understands what the expressions mean, she just doesn't know how to apply them to conversations.

can relate to this point too...

Good morning Ladies! I just found this report...It's been a crazy summer for me and I've not been on the DIS much, but I was catching up on Amy's PTR and found you! This trip sounds fantastic!

For those of you I already "know" (Kathy, Julie, Amy).....I'm so glad you are able to take this trip! It was fun reading about your families and hearing your Disney stories again!

For those of you I have not yet had the pleasure of "meeting".....It's nice to finally meet you! Tracy, your story about Ariana brought tears to my eyes. What a special little girl!

I'm so excited to follow all of your planning adventures! :thumbsup2

I love that quote! You are SUCH an amazing advocate for Alex and Zach, they are so blessed to have you as their mom.

At first there was 5 and then quickly 7 and from SSR to possibly the Treehouses…Kathy emails our crew w/ the simple phrase of

AKV at Kidani is 10 points less….

Sing it now….

Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze

It means no worries for the rest of your days

It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!
Hakuna Matata! Hakuna matata!
Hakuna Matata! Hakuna matata!
Hakuna Matata! Hakuna matata!

Come take a tour of our lovely African abode we will inhabit over the course of 4 days in January. As the we travel from various points in the USA and Canada via air travel and race each other down the red carpet to our transport from Orlando to the African Savannah (and by the MAGIC of Disney it will take less than an hour)…we will discover the sights, sounds, and smells (let’s hope it’s some yummy Zebra Domes and not poor Pumba)…of our dreamy DVC stay…

Kidani which means “necklace” in Swahili is fitting to this all MOM long weekend getaway…

Here is a little more about AKV at Kidani from Allears.net:

"Kidani Village was designed with three themes, Fabric, Proverbs, and Art. And when it comes to Art, it is abundant everywhere. But it’s far more than just paintings hanging from the wall. The building was designed with all types of artistic creations in mind. Everywhere you see alcoves and recessed shelves that were designed specifically for sculptures and statuary.
The “fabric” theme is very evident in the lobby. The major patterns used throughout Kidani Village are from the fabrics of the kente cloths of Ghana and the kuba cloths of the Congo.”

I think you ladies are going to LOVE Kidani. It's a beautiful resort! The 2 bedroom villas feel like they go on and on and on and ON! Just huge.

Plus free laundry in the room. ::yes::

Toss a load in before leaving the room.
Get back and toss it into the dryer.
Fold whenever.

No laundry when you get home? PRICELESS!

Thanks to our fun-loving readers, the outcome of the Kidani Games was decided in record time!

Now, to fill you in on what you were playing for!

As you know, there are seven spectrum moms sharing a two-bedroom villa at Kidani Village. We will have:

A Master bedroom with one KING bed:

BR270.jpg

A second bedroom with two QUEEN beds:

(Oooh, Julie has a much better picture in her post, above!!)

And a living room with one QUEEN sofa bed....

Spring2010076.jpg

... and a twin sleeper-chair:

BR180.jpg

That makes FIVE beds (or the equivalent).

Five beds, seven people. You can do the math! :teacher:

Unless someone was willing to sleep HERE:

...or bring along an air mattress... four of us would have to double up!

Julie (mousescrapper) and Anne Marie (irish dancer) had already met in person, so they volunteered to be one "couple."

I volunteered to share... although an air bed would've been fine with me. But really, did we want to bother either stepping around it or inflating it/deflating it every day?

Both Tracy (Mickey_Mom) and Jessica (JPFamilyMom) volunteered to buddy up with me ~ thanks, gals ~ but that left us with two questions. What was a fair way to decide:

1) Which mom would end up having to share with me, and
2) Which "couple" would get the KING bed?

That's when Heidi (MRYPPNS) came up with the idea of letting YOU decide!

And so, everything is now agreed:

Game One decided that TRACY will share with KATHY.

Game Two decided that TRACY and KATHY get the KING bed.
(Which is probably a really good thing for her since I'm fairly POOH-sized!) pooh:

Thank you for playing!

Hey, that was fun... perhaps we'll let YOU decide some more things as we go along!

Kathy

What a great way to decide who is going to split and what bed you are going to get. :thumbsup2

Kidani is gorgeous, what a wonderful place to stay!

And in case you were wondering....Heidi (me) and Amy will be sleeping in the living room on the pull outs.

kida09a91.jpg

We both like to sleep with white noise so we thought it would be a good idea to "room" together. I'm going to bring a little fan and Amy will bring her rain machine.

You'll be glad to know those drapes block out 99% of daylight! :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness!! Staying at AKV....my DREAM resort! Lucky ladies! :thumbsup2

Thank you! I hope you get the chance to stay there someday. It's so beautiful; you really get completely immersed in the African theme...
