my mum has just given me a guide to orlando, it says not to miss the nightly main st electrical parade or the spectromagic parade (on special nights only). i was under the impression that these are the same thing

Hi Laura,

They are not the same, but one has replaced the other. MSEP used to run at night until 1991 when Spectro took over. MSEP came back for a while about five (?) years ago but is gone again and Spectro is back. But make sure you check the park hours because Spectro does not run every night.

Spectromagic is the electrical parade that goes through mk. It runs on certain nights. The Electrical Water Pageant is a nightly display that makes its circuit around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake for the Magic Kingdom area resorts. It starts at the Polynesian at about 9 pm and makes it way around to the Contemporary and then Mk.
Note that when the Magic Kingdom Fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m., the Electrical Water Pageant runs about 7-20 minutes later.
