SpectroMagic Question

Hi everyone,

Ever since we got back from WDW 3 weeks ago, this question has been bugging me and I'm hoping that someone can answer it.

During SpectroMagic, a huge black thing comes out and opens it's wings with the "dark" music in the background.

What is this thing? Is it a Gargoyle? Or am I missing something?

DH, who thinks of me as his own personal WDW expert, is actually starting to make fun of me because I don't have an answer for him.
