Hi all!

So after all these years of going to Disney, we're finally going to eat at V&A's for our tenth wedding anniversary this June.

I'm just racking my brain as to what I should wear! It says cocktail dress, nice dress, blouse/skirt, etc.

There's no restriction on the actual style of cocktail dress, right? The one shoulder dresses are stylish and really cute and I have one that I'm thinking of wearing. Do you think that would be appropriate?

But it also says no sandals. What about strappy dressy cute 3-inch heel sandals? Am I to have to bring pumps to Disney in the summer??!?!?!? I'm really perplexed. Perhaps I should call?

This is killing me too, lol. No sandals? Ugh - and I have nice ones, too (flats - I hate heels). Guess I'll have to bring my ballet shoes.

I feel like I need to wear black, that if I don't, it won't be "nice" enough. I have less than 2 weeks to figure this out, lol

A one shoulder cocktail dress would be perfect. I usually wear dressy palazzo-style pants with a pretty top, as I hate dresses. I've also worn a long dress that worked fine. I always wear black, but that's not required!

Strappy dressy sandals with heels would work great. The "no sandals" rule is for men. I have worn high-heeled, open-toed, open-heeled slip-ons with no problem. Just make sure they are dressy sandals -- no Tevas -- and that you have a pedicure. I wear sandals with heels as they seem dressier to me, but flats should be fine. I wouldn't wear flip-flop style, though, as that would seem a little too casual to me. However, there are some very fancy flip flops out now that might work, although they still seem a bit too casual and beachy to me.

Dressing up is very easy for women -- just about anything passes that is a bit on the dressy side -- no jeans, shorts, tennis shoes or clam diggers. I have seen women in jeans turned away.

As for men, a jacket is required, but no tie. Hope this helps.

Yes, I wear strappy heel sandals with a cocktail type dress every time I dine here.

The dress code is not as strict as it may read. I've seen women in plain slacks, not dressy at all. I prefer to dress; it adds to the feel that the meal is special.

Would you like to share that thought with my wife ! (ROTFLOL :rotfl2:) No... seriously ! :rotfl::lmao::dance3:

But I do agree with you... and most definitely about the "as for men" part. I can honestly say that, in the last 15 years, this has been the only restaurant that I will "dress up" for... PERIOD ! :confused3 I just love it there that much ! I've actually rented a tux and multiple shirts and "finish sets" to go on multiple nights ! But that really was "back in the day", :hippie: we don't do that any more.
Bottom-line, though... a coat and slacks - for men - is fine; and, for women, well, from what I've seen over the years, anything from an evening gown to pretty-much anything other then flip-flops, shorts, jeans, t-shiirts and halter tops... will be "passable". But I must really be honest here and say to you... if you aren't "dressed-up" a little, you are really going to feel "out of place". It doesn't have to be "formal", just be nice....

Pumps are certainly not necessary. Mrs U always wears a pants-suit type thing at V&A, with sandal-like flats. I wear a blue sportcoat, tan slacks and loafers--no tie any more.
Dressed as described we blend in just fine!!

I do not want to wear a dress.........how fancy must the skirt/top outfit be or even a pants/top?

This is giving me all sorts of fits, lol.

Thanks!

I don't wear dresses either (nor skirts) - I'm a pants girl all the way. Don't have a fit! Wear what you'd wear to a cocktail party, and that should be sufficient. It's not formal.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to dressing up a bit, actually, after a vacation spent mostly in capris and t-shirts, lol

If the man is wearing a jacket and the wife looks like they are together - you'll be welcomed for dinner.

I think the 'no sandal policy' should really be a 'no flip-flop' policy. My wife wears those sandals that have nothing to them and yet she looks appropriately dressed along side me while I'm wearing a jacket.

Think of of this way - would Disney turn me back for wearing a Mickey t-shirt under my dinner jacket? Nope. So a woman 'smartly' dressed and wearing sandals will not be turned back either.

As a friend of mine would say, "These are more guidelines than rules."
