Don't really care about the character part, based on the food would you pick Goofy's or Storytellers?

What I tend to see is that Storytellers has better food, but Goofy's has a much larger selection.

I personally prefer Goofys for dinner and Storytellers for breakfast/brunch. Goofy's has more variety for dinner than Storytellers.

The food is literally the same these days. Until very recently, Storyteller’s was menu service with the option of a small buffet catered toward mature tastes. But today it’s a character buffet and the food is literally the same as Goofy’s.

The biggest difference is that Storyteller’s has a small buffet area, so they feature options that they’ll bring to the table. It’s stuff like chicken tenders, sliders, etc. But if you’re a dessert person, GK has a much larger selection.

You can always check both buffets out before deciding. Unless you’re going on a holiday, same day reservations are easy (and they take walk ins).

Storyteller's for breakfast, but definitely Goofy's for dinner. Recently (within the last year) the quality is just about the same and the variety at Goofy's give is the edge.

Uh oh, we booked for dinner at Storyteller’s Friday night, but if the food is mediocre I’d rather switch. The only things that really enticed me were the prime rib and the bread pudding. DH is plant based, so he was going to have to make do anyway. Would Hearthstone Lounge be better?

I don't think either is mediocre. There are just more options at GK because they have more buffet space. Great options for kids and lots of dessert options. Goofy's has a meat carving station at dinner and they usually have Prime Rib, so I would bet it's very similar to Storyteller's.

You can always check the buffet out first. They will not penalize you if you check in and decide it’s not for you. It shouldn’t be that difficult to get a walk up reservation at Hearthstone Lounge.

The dinner pricing makes Storyteller’s the best value at DLR. Last time we went to Hearthstone, the kids got chicken tenders. They were the same chicken tenders they bring to your table at Storyteller’s. They were also the same chicken tenders you get at the theme parks. But at double the cost… although they came with house made dressing. The food at DLH and GC is often the same as the theme parks but sold at a much higher cost.
