We were originally using hotel points at WDW Swan for 11/24-12/1 (had already purchased park tickets from Universal Tourist). When free dining promotion became available, we scrapped the Swan and booked Port Orleans-Riverside.

BUT - my plan was to then move my Swan reservation on points to the week before, get a refund on my Universal Tourist tickets, and just add a few extra days on my park tickets through the Magic Your Way package (from 7 days to 10 days).

However, the CM I spoke with said that I could only use those "added days" in the package on the backend of the trip because the park tickets purchased in the package wouldn't become officially "valid" for use until 11/24 (check-in date).

Can anybody think of a work around here? I really don't want to use my $1200 worth of Universal Tourist tickets when I should be able to spend just a few hundred dollars to add days to my package. It's really frustrating me as I thought I had it all worked out in my head. You'd think Disney would want me to stay longer at WDW and spend more money? :confused3

Very easy workaround.

She's wrong.

You can pick up package tickets at any park up to 3 days before your package starts. Phone CMs don't believe this, but it's true as the CMs "on the ground" around here have stated time and time again :).

For specific info on how to pick up your package tickets up to 3 days early, refer to Cheshire Figment's Ticket Sticky, "Everything About WDW Tickets." Go to Post #15-I, Picking up Package Tickets Prior To Start Of Package. Follow the simple instructions step-by-step and you will have no problems. And you can upgrade to a max. of 10 days. Use your tickets first through a park turnstile before doing the upgrade. That locks in the current ticket price. You can then take the tickets to a Guest Services outlet or ticket booth, including DTD and TTC.
